I bought the Keen Marshall Mid Water Proof Boots in early August. I'm giving them top marks. I'm in Denver, CO and I've been hiking in heavy leather backpacking boots, wanted something lighter. I looked for these at Zappos because they were very well reviewed in an issue of Backpacker magazine as the best value for the money out of seven boots (you could get modestly more 'value' for a lot more money). I'm 6'4", 240 lbs and size 14M. I tried them on for size with the inexpensive urethane foot beds that come with them, and they tightened down nicely on that low volume situation. Before hiking, I toss the urethane, useless at my size. I put in some gel foot beds with nice heel cups, after cutting off the toes for room. Then, I put my popular 'high' arch supports on top of those. Again, they fit nicely and tightened comfortably over that high volume. Two socks. Then, I drove to East Vail and climbed the four miles and 3000 feet to Deluge Lake. In the Rockies before dawn, I banged my feet several times, toes never had to care. I stepped in a hole and my ankle tried to turn in a damaging manner, but the snug boot top admirably prevented that. No significant mud of various viscosities would stick to the bottoms. I stood in cold creeks for minutes, they are waterproof. The fellow who complained that his feet got soaked when he walked through wet grass needs gaiters, as they have wicking liners to normally draw moisture out. Toes never slipped forward to hit the boot coming down. When I got home, everything above the boots hurt, but nothing inside did. These boots stick! Loose gravel and mud, steep packed earth where others had slipped, they stuck. It rained, they stuck. Today, I did the 2000 feet from Summit Lake to Mt Evans. Steep, with light snow, and drop offs, my feet and everything else felt safe. I am very happy in these boots. I remembered Marshall fit my upper midwest germanic foot as well as Vasques or Red Wing. I plan to also wear these for snowshoeing, with boot covers. Much lighter than leather. Still washing up well. No sign of fraying. A deal.

Someone gave me a used pair of keen shoes. They were just a little on the small size (9) They felt good better than other shoes that I have bought or wore before. I bought a (10) should of bought (9.5) They did loosen up a bit after wearing them for a while. My feet sweat very bad as I wear them at work. And because of the vents they help with that a lot.

I recently purchased the Keen Whisper shoes for an upcoming trip which will require a lot of walking. I am very satisfied with these shoes, since I have been wearing them to see how they work for me, very excellent. I can walk for hours and don't feel my feet at all.
