I bought these for my son, who will be serving as a missionary for two years and will walk all day for many hours, 6 days a week. We evaluated many shoes and these were by far the sturdiest and most comfortable of all he tried. Hopefully they will last as long as other reviewers indicated their experience was. They were much more money than what we had planned to spend, but they appeared to be worth more than the average comfort dress shoe. The soles were very soft, real latex, and the leather was thick and had a nice finish. So far, he loves these shoes. I will try to add to this review after seeing their performance over time.

Less than a month after I purchased these shoes, the heels started coming off. Zappos is great with customer service, but I can't help but feel that, for what these shoes cost, the quality is poor. The heels are also wide. They tore up my feet, and I had to put heel slips in.

These are almost perfect. I have them in blue and have now bought the tan ones. I find I am more comfortable with a gel half insert which cushions the edge of the heel. I most likely need this because I am heavy and so have a lot of weight on my foot. I usually don't wear heels; these boots enable me to wear a heel without discomfort. The leather is gorgeous and supple. I have probably worn the blue ones 20 times by now and they look pretty much like new. (I did spray them with a leather preserver, which I am hesitating about for the tan ones as I fear it will darken them.) I am probably a 10 1/2 (41) but the 11 fits me with room for smartwool or alpaca socks. These are the most expensive boots I have ever bought. My daughters are envious. I told the one who has big feet like me that they will still be in good shape when she inherits them!

These shoes are terrific. I got the bison hide in the bourbon color and the color and texture are super. The latex sole really gives a nice cushioning and they seem to be lasting well.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these shoes. I had a pair of H.S. Trask shoes over 10 years ago & loved them, then could not find them anymore. Forgot about them, then when looking for oxfords on Zappos, ran across these & decided to give them a try. Though under new ownership now, the quality is still there. The shoes took a little to break in, but are super great. I feel like I am wearing a solid pair of shoes. They super stylish too. They look great with a pair of jeans or slacks & jacket. These are my favorite shoes right now. You will not go wrong buying these.

This is an incredibly comfortable slip on! I cannot enough good things. It's spot on as to sizing , as far as I'm concerned anway (a 9.5 and a 9.5. fit just fine and no slipping.) I had ordered a 9 , just in case and find I won't need it. Thanks Zappos for carrying this super brand and for your expeditious service, as always! You remain the best!

When style meets comfort! I was looking for a pair or versatile shoes and I stopped my search when I found these ones. I tried many other brands including Pikolinos, Clarks and more. Trask Gallatin was the real find for me, even though the price was way more than I’ve ever spent on the pair of shoes. I am a wedding photographer and I have to be on my feet all day. Therefore comfort was one of the essential requirements. I put them on for my first wedding of the season brand new (no breaking in time). Here are a few things I've observed about these shoes: At first, they felt great, but towards the end of the day I felt slight stiffness. This is primarily because I did not break them in prior that day. Second, which I found quite phenomenal, these shoes instantly become more comfortable on the hard surface. When you step on the pavement it feel as if you are walking on the carpet. I loved that feature! I can see how I can wear them all day and save my feet some suffering. Third, they are really quiet. When I walked in them in church with great acoustics, no one could hear me. You feel like a cat, completely inaudible! I like it because I have to move a lot during the ceremony, and these shoes certainly help me remain quiet and inconspicuous. One of the most decisive reasons I purchased these shoes instead of Clarks Unravel was because of the style and versatility. Clarks were great and amazingly comfortable, but they were huge on my feet and looked like hooves. These Trasks are so classy and stylish while at the same time so comfortable and versatile. I can wear them both with jeans and suit pants and they look great no matter what. I only wish these shoes were made in the US. I know that previous generations of Trasks were made in the US so I was a bit disappointed to find out these were made in China. Of course the quality control is different with these, but still... I hope these shoes last and serve me well, because I really enjoy wearing them.

Worth every dime. These great looking shoes fit perfectly, and are more comfortable than many other $300 shoes. Love the color, looks great with tan slacks or khakis.

Nice shoe - very stylish. I bought these to replace an 8 year old pair of Trask Gallatins made of bison. The bison on my old pair wore like iron. This pair is made of steer leather so it is a bit less expensive than the bison version, but I liked the "Umber" color better than the other two choices. It is a good quality leather so if taken care of, I'm sure it will provide good service. They are surprisingly lighter than my old pair, and the sole is more cushiony than the old pair as well. On the whole, I like these better than my old pair. Expensive shoe, but if I again get 8 years out of them, heck, even 5 years, it's money well spent.

Fabulous looking and the most comfortable shoes he has ever worn. I bought these for my boyfriend and he keeps raving about how wonderful they are. I love the way they look! They are very versatile and are wearing well.

These shoes are a classic oxford style with a rugged edge. The sole is high quality along with the leather. This is my first pair from the new Trask line and it won't be my last.

This is an expensive shoe, but it is great value for the money. I think the item description does not credit details why the shoe is priced such very well. For example, the sole is real latex, not synthetic. The leather is fine, buttery and thick. Its lining is better. The stitching is superb, and they look top notch and stylish. They are relatively light, and you can wear them a long time because they breathe well. Not so for other brands, at least for me. I've owned other Trask shoes and they simply outlast the competition.

This is the third pair of Gallatins I've owned, but the first pair not made in the U.S. This time around, Trask got it completely right, if you ask me. Right out of the box, these again became my favorite shoes ever. I love the look, and the materials are top-notch - just what you'd expect in this price range. My previous Gallatins - both pairs - lasted me several years each, and I don't expect anything different from these. They come only in medium width, and my feet are very wide, but I ordered a half-size larger than I normally wear, and break-in was very quick. They're among my most comfortable shoes now, even after only about two weeks wearing them. I'd highly recommend them to anybody.

This boot is amazing! I had never heard of the brand Trask before. I can tell you now that this boot is 100% quality. Great comfort and style and the leather quality is spot on. Worth the money for sure.

I purchased this boot through Garnet Hill. Like the previous Reviewer, I sent them back after only one full work day of wearing them. Same reason -- the sole began to separate from the rest of the boot. These were very expensive and marketed as being from the U.S.; granted it should be my responsibility to look further into the origins of the products I am purchasing, but I assumed they were made in America because of their marketing/branding. They were made in China. I felt a bit hoodwinked and misled and will most likely not purchase from Trask again as a result. These boots are way, way too expensive to fall apart. When I buy boots at this price I expect them to last for years. From now on I will stick with Frye, Red Wing, and Wolverine, since I've had much better experiences with their American-made products.

I loved the style of the boot, and they were fairly comfortable though there's not much arch support. Unfortunately . . . and a big unfortunately . . . I had to return them because after wearing them only twice, the sole separated from the shoe! Also, there appears to be a thin cork foot bed and some chunks of it were ripped and stuck on the part of the sole that became unglued. I was going to exchange them and try another pair, but Zappos was out of my size. If they get them back in, I may order another pair. I will say that even when I first took them out of the box, they seemed very nice-soft leather, cool looking--I was concerned because of where they are made, despite the tag line being "an American original," (or something to that effect). When I buy shoes that are this freaking expensive, they are made in other countries, not in a factory in this particular country. So, maybe it has to do with the quality, maybe not, but either way they came apart after two days. Thank goodness I bought them from Zappos--they make everything very easy to return.
