A wonderful messenger bag to have. I was hesitant on purchasing this bag because it says "small", (I only wanted a bag that could fit around 2 textbooks and a laptop) but when I received it I was surprised. It has a North Face "Hot shot" back pack look to it - which is awesome. It can fit around 2 large textbooks. For those who are around 6 feet tall and up, or for those who are interested in a bag with more space to hold additional books, shoes or clothing, I would recommend a size "large" bag. The black messenger bag which I purchased has a very sporty masculine look to it. All an all, great bag.

This cross body bag is perfect. Not bulky, great size, plenty of features, holds daily needs and it expands for traveling. Wide enough to fit traditional wallet and not have trouble getting it in and out of purse. I love the versatile separation options. The bags lies flat against your body, strap is comfortable and easily adjustable quickly, and even holds iPad if necessary. Oh...it stands upright and doesn't fall over when expanded! I traveled with it a couple of weeks ago and got some black marks on the outside, I have the herringbone black and white bag, so I called Timbuk 2 and asked them if I could put it in the washer on gentle. He recommended I spot clean only with a light detergent/Simple Green, etc. That didn't quite do it. So I took a chance and sprayed Amway stain remover on the spots and tossed it in the washer on gentle with a bedspread. Voila! It came out great. I wouldn't recommend putting it in the dryer, however. Air dry it.

I tested numerous bags and thought this one really was the best. It's great for using as a work bag, a weekend errand bag, and a yoga bag. There are a few things I wish were different. The handle is a little uncomfortable and bulky when being used in tote mode. I also wish there were outside pockets on the sides of the bag for keys, cellphone, etc. Overall, love this bag and recommend to anyone.

finally decided on this bag after going through numerous cheaper backpacks where either the zipper(s) would break or the bottom would eventually wear through. The pros: It feels very durable, including the zippers. I got this bag because the main compartment has a velcro and buckle closure, so the bag won't be rendered useless by a broken zipper. The color is an attractive shade of red that's bright enough to help you be seen by cars. It holds a lot of stuff, and has pretty good pockets for smaller items. The straps are really sturdy and the bag (and its contents) stays in place when you're biking-- no constant reaching back to shift your load and straighten out the bag. This is probably my favorite thing about it. The cons: Because of how the bag is shaped, the top of it comes up past your shoulders in the back while you're riding, making it really difficult to look over your shoulders to look for cars when you're trying to change langes. I find that if you tuck the sides of the top closure flap in a little, it helps, but it still blocks your peripheral vision somewhat. The straps, because they're as sturdy as they are, are a little stiff and uncomfortable. I'm hoping this changes as the bag breaks in more. It doesn't look like there's anything reflective on the bag to help cars see you at night. I use lights, so it's not a big deal, but it would be a nice feature to add. One weird thing is that Zappos lists the color as Dusk Blue, but the images show the red bag. I liked both colors equally well, so I just went ahead and ordered it and was willing to be surprised. I ended up receiving the red one, which I like quite a bit.

The first wallet I ordered wasn't made very well and the rubber bands in the strap had broken loose and it didn't hold the wallet together very well, but I called Zappos to let them know what happened and they sent me another one free of charge.

The general idea is great. Water proof bag with slots for a laptop and a tablet, and good size internal compartment and one external zippered pocket. The bad: 1) no clip for easy access to key ring 2) external compartment access requires opening bag 3) for me the bag rubbed against the bolt at the bottom of my rack tearing a hole in the fabric, I glued a strip of metal here to handle the abrasion from riding (Timbuk2 should have had better material here) 4) bottom of bag material no different than general external material, waterproof but not the best for putting on the ground and taking normal daily commute abuse (see Ortlieb Downtown Commuter Pannier) 4) the bag may be intended to be carried on your shoulder with the clips against your back but WTF! I quickly adapted the bag to work with the soft side against my back, it required attaching velcro to the velcro strips on the bag to avoid tearing up my clothes and 5) the biggest issue, the hinge system, the clips are fine, quick release and stable enough but the material supporting the clips is plastic. Mine shattered today leaving the bag dangling and a quick stop was all that prevented my bag and computer from taking a solo trip down the road and into traffic. Not the thing you need on your commute to work. I showed my broken bag to an engineer I met on the train today and he immediately criticized the material and thought of some solutions. Why Timbuk2 went with a material almost certain to fail, I have read other reviews of users having the same issue and using DIY fixes, seems inconsistent with a company that offers lifetime guarantees? I had used my bag 4 days a week for 9 months before failure. I have always thought a pannier was a better option than a backpack for commute cycling. However, I have not found a good pannier that meets all my needs (see above) plus a slightly larger compartment. So I just ordered an Osprey Spin 32 backpack. On my ride in to work this morning I found that wearing the pannier made riding a bit easier than having all the weight in the back, if the backpack doesn't make me overheat too much I will welcome the change.

Reading some of the other reviews, I was a bit worried about this purchase. But those worries seem unfounded. I have now had this wallet for six months. The wallet has retained it "stiffness", while conforming to my back pocket. The elastic band shows some wear, but is still intact. Some people complained about the credit card slots being too deep, but I don't necessarily see that as a deal-breaker. The cards are stored well, and there is a divider in the cash money compartment. I wanted a bi-fold, non-leather wallet as I generally work outdoors (sun, rain, sweat etc). I also wanted something that was "stylish" and functional. I believe Timbuk2 has made a great wallet that works!

This bag is super cool and loved it for a few days until I realized how quickly the dirt shows up since it's mostly a light grey color. Unfortunately will have to exchange for darker color.

I recently bought this for my husband as a diaper bag - he wanted something more masculine that would not be mistaken for a purse. The bag itself is a great messenger bag for a man (or if you just want a unisex bag) - it's sturdy, has multiple pockets and fits everything he'll need for the baby if he is out for a few hours.

This is a wonderful tote that can handle all my extras that I need for work...lunch, water, files, umbrella, hard drive and so on and a nice alternative to a briefcase. It's very sturdy so I have no concerns about it falling apart with heavy use. It fits comfortably over my shoulder, has extra pockets inside, one pocket outside, a zipper top and a nylon bottom. I can't think of anything wrong about it. Love it!

Everything about this bag is great except that they inexplicably put the handle offset from the top. If you lift from the handle, it tilts forward and things could fall out.

Although well made and built to last, this bag is lacking in functionality. No key fob, only 1 zipper on inner pocket, with several pockets that have no zip or closure, which means all your stuff will fall out if you are trying to maneuver something out of it while it's still on your body. Nice size, but I'm pretty sure everyone likes well secured pockets, and lots of them. Also no room for a water bottle. Not a useful bag at all.

The backpack straps being stitched so close together is a bad enough problem that it's surprising that this product hasn't been recalled yet. My neck is a small--14.5-15 so if I have this problem I can't imagine that anyone other than a child could comfortably use this as a backpack. Also, the weight listed here on the Timbuk2 site *does not* include the padded shoulder strap, and this adds an additional 6-8 ounces to the bags total weight. Not Zappos' fault, but deceptive of Timbuk2 since the previous Wingman design's listed weight did include the strap. I own the previous Wingman design and have taken it all over the world at this point--love the Timbuk2 style and the MLC (maximum legal carry on) dimensions. Was hoping for an upgrade but this 2014 model is going back.

Shockingly bad design of the backpack straps, which are not functional because they cut into the neck and upper shoulder area. I really needed this to be carryable with the backpack straps, so this means the bag doesn't work for me at all. I also think the bag is heavier than necessary; weight is a major issue when traveling with a lot of stuff on your back.

This bag is great! I love the sleeve for my laptop -- it makes it feel so light just pressed against by back and not sagging. My only gripe is that there isn't any sort of external pocket for my water bottle or keys or something when my hands are full and just need to a place to put something. Other than that it's great, compact, durable and has lots of pockets for organization!

This is a really good bag. It has all the big and little compartments you'll probably ever need. I trekked across France with this bag and it served me well. It resists scuffs and tears, so it always looks good. The only downside to the bag are the hooks that close the front of the bag -- they should have used the standard snap buckle instead. The hooks can be difficult to thread into the strip they fasten to, and that can be a problem if you need to close it in a hurry. Other than that, this bag will handle just about anything.

Great travel bag. I tried several, and this was the best. Easy opening, not too big or too small. Expandable feature is very practical.

My second Timbuk 2 bag. I have medium that's too big now that I don't carry a laptop. The small is perfect for everyday carry with a tablet. Great quality, lots of pockets, and burly enough not to be a man purse.

I love this bag! I use it to commute by bike. I'm a professor at a University so don't want to look too casual, but I also commute in bad weather and need a sturdy bag for my laptop, lunch, and etc. I couldn't be happier.

Loved the style...didn't like the material that it is made of. Gets dirty, and dull looking quickly. Will not buy again until the material is improved.

This is a well made bag that just does not work for me. The divided interior pocket makes it difficult for me to pack my shoes flat and my toiletry bag (LL bean large) must be packed vertically. I wanted to love it, but it's going back.
