This is a sensational watch. The GPS is accurate and this sapphire model is tough while easy on the eyes. It eats up scrapes and hits from granite walls to freezer doors. Waterproof and bomber. The watch is a great buy.

I was pretty excited to receive this watch because I was going to use it in the mountains hiking in Montana. Well, first of all, it took about two hours to figure everything out about this watch, but that was okay. There were a lot of functions and I wanted to be able to use this for hiking. All seemed well until day 2 (!) when the main button would not function. It was like stuck and I couldn't calibrate the compass nor access any of the other settings of this watch. Had to send it back as defective. I would not recommend this watch to anyone looking for something reliable for the outdoors. Suunto should stick to what they do best which is compasses only. Watches: definitely not their expertise. Totally overpriced for something this unreliable.

I am a fireman and I get to buy myself one expensive gift a year, all the guys just love my watch. I had a Casio path finder for 9 years and never realized how uncomfortable it was now that I have the Suunto. I can wear the Suunto all shift and sleep with it on with ease. Extremely comfortable, I would recommend this watch to anyone!

I bought my husband this watch, almost two years ago. Being in the military, the watch face and band have to be certain colors, and this worked perfect. We have already replaced the band once. We were thinking that the specific wear of doing push ups with the watch on, had caused the band to break. Also read another review with the same thought, the constant bending of the wrist caused it to weaken over time. You have to buy the Suunto band, can't just go to watch repair and get any they have. They're also pretty expensive, considering the cost of the watch....60 just for the band is a lot. He really wanted a watch that showed altitude, and all that fun stuff. Most other watches had huge faces, and didn't look comfortable. This one does all the cool stuff, without looking like he's wearing a plate.

If you leave civilization this is a good watch if you can leave the GPS off most of the time to conserve battery. For running/cycling it's not so great. Consider using your smartphone with a Bluetooth HR monitor and the hardware is ancient, which shows in a convoluted and slow menu system and limited functionality. E.g. you won't be able to use your previous tracks to pace yourself on later runs.

Just got my Vector watch. No sooner did I set the time and date when it started to malfunction. As I scrolled through the modes to compass, the screen went blank and the watch jumped to the time mode, but reset the time to 6:00 p.m. and reset the date to Sat 1/1/2000. I called customer service to find out if maybe I had done something incorrect, but after speaking to the representative, I was told that the watch "shouldn't do that" and that I should try to replace the battery...on a watch I literally received 10 minutes earlier! Not good. Not good at all! The watch is going back.

Great watch but very difficult to see the face on the all black version. Also, I had to get to the Suunto website for how to videos as limited information in box.

This watch works great for my needs. (wk out classes and cycling) The HR band fits comfortably as well, I usually don't even notice it as it sits right at my sports bra line. It always syncs with all the gym equipment which makes viewing easy. I love that it shows a summary at the end of the workout, with peak HR, average HR and % of time at each HR, as well as total cal's burned, and the ability to go back and look at previous workouts. The color however is NOT Fuchsia, it is RED! Just like in the picture, maybe the person who named it was a tad color blind. ;)

This watch was a gift for my husband. All I can say is that he never takes it off. It was exactly was he was looking for (light weight, heart rate and calories monitor). The only downside would be that it doesn't have an illuminator. Overall, great watch!

This is by far the best watch I've ever utilized in combat. It stood up to it all! Awesome back light that would never give your position away. Thanks Finland!

Awesome! Suunto doesn't disappoint and as always is top quality. Easy to use as long as you read the owners manual. Perfect for running, biking, and most outdoor activities. Worth the price!

I did not buy this watch, thankfully. Researching the item, I found a couple of interesting paradoxes. First, the a priori statement: this is an extreme conditions watch. Ok, so let us look at some empirical scenarios (which, ironically, are not so extreme). I called the manufacturer and asked, if I am backpacking and decide to take a dip in the river, this wrist computer is ok, right? Nope. According to them, I absolutely have to take this thing off as it is not designed for swimming. Although it is water resistant to 100 feet, you cannot swim with it on because it will leak. In a pool, according to one review. It is water resistant to 100 feet. 100 feet of what? Often, structural and mechanical elements exposed to pressure have some time increment associated as well, EG 100' for 10 minutes. Nope, none of that. Fluff spec, period. I was told it was for rain exposure. 100' of rain. Secondly, the altimeter. Some guy reviewed this elsewhere and said he calibrated it and checked against actual altitude markers and it was off by a couple hundred feet. Another guy said his temperature gauge read the same temp all the time - body temp. This watch is what the old timers call hooey. Charlatan. Joke. Here is what the guys who wrote the original boy scout manual used: the sun and the stars. Go ahead, buy this watch and look cool like Mark Walberg when he wore it as a a now obvious prop in Shooter. In the end I replaced my cheap Casio with another cheap Casio. The first went into every pool, stream, and lake over the last five years until I broke the strap and smashed the face. Oh, and both are water resistant to 200'.

A great looking and interesting watch. Understated but different and catches your eye. My only complaint is that after less than a year of wear, a line of vertical LED lights has failed so the numbers don't display correctly. Makes it virtually unusable. Contacted Zappos CS to see what can be done but a little disappointed in the quality given how much we paid for it.

Great watch. If you read the manual and spend the time to understand the functionality of the watch, you will appreciate how well it is designed. You do have to occasionally re-calibrate the compass altimeter, but that is very simple to do.

Overall very pleased with this watch. Great looking and durable. This is the 2nd Suunto I have owned. Not a 5-star because comfort could be improved. The back of the watch is hard and not contoured, whereas the Suunto M-series watches are more form-fittting. As a result, my wrist bone feels some pressure from the watch at times. Not a deal breaker for me - I wear the watch almost every day. And it may just be my wrist. I purchased the green bezel watch with the lighter watch face background. Very easy to read and functions well. Pleased with purchase.

This watch is the real deal and then some. I've purchased and returned several watches with similar functions (not all together as Suunto has them) and wasn't nearly as impressed as I am with the Ambit. The GPS is incredibly accurate and takes no more than 4 or 5 seconds to acquire a signal. The first time it may take up to several minutes, but it took no more than 15 seconds for me. The heart rate and customizable screens / exercise programs are great. Incredibly easy to use and intuitive for the average person to avid athlete to use. I tend to run on the treadmill occasionally when the weather isn't great and the distance, pace, and speed is incredibly accurate. Running outside with GPS on only makes it that much better. It's expensive, but definitely worth the money. It's a great motivator, tool and resource to have even if you're the average gym user.

I was pretty happy with my watch until a month ago when the lower left button that changes the view screens stopped responding when pressed. I have used the watch pretty lightly considering its purpose as a specialized outdoors watch. I called Suunto to send it in under their two year warranty and they directed me to their website. Apparently you cannot send the watch through Fedex originating from your house, or receive delivery, without being charged each way. I find this to be pretty poor after-purchase service considering the price of the watch. I would not be able to recommend this watch due to Suunto's customer service.

This watch has superb design, but that is about it! Here are the issues I found with it: 1) the screen has very low contrast, i.e. readability 2) you can read the screen ONLY if right in front of your face, otherwise is unreadable. 3) backlight is too faint, only useful in the dark, dark. 4) the menu navigation is inconvenient. there are two functions, altimeter and barometer, that are unnecessarily together AND additional settings must be changed to select one or the other instead of using the MODE button

Great sports watch. As with all heart rate monitors, keeping contract with real time heart rate measurements gets a little tricky after 45+ minutes of exercise (i.e. sweat), but the display is great, and easy to use. The exercise summary could be better by allowing you to see a daily total though - exercise more than once in a day and you can only review the last event.

This is a great watch but even with adjusting the contrast, it is extremely difficult to read. If the display was brighter, I would rate it very high!

I bought this watch for my husband and he really likes it except the loop that you put the end of the band back through. The band will not stay in the loop. He is going to order a different band.
