Bought these shoes on June 3 2014, it is now July 11 and a hole appeared during a hike, located on the inside of the left shoe, above the rubber toe guard. The leather has about a 2" tear, exposing the inside of the shoe. I would say these are not durable and not suitable for approach as they fell apart so quickly. I would not recommend them.

Wanted some multi-use walking shoes that I could also hike and garden in. These are very comfortable. Did a short 3 mile hike with no pain or chafing. Would prefer a bit more arch support but perhaps it's time for an insert. Would recommend.

I am recently retired Army. 21 years of wearing boots has taught me one thing. Don't chintz on the quality of your shoes. And that doesn't mean cost...it means quality and build. How they feel on your feet. And these are great! I haven't had them "too" long but I've done some walking around downtown and stood during some FIFA matches at public viewings. My feet don't hurt. They ran pretty much true to size and with Zappos return policy you can't go wrong. They have awesome grip as well. Great as a hiking shoe. Actually I think that's what they are touted abut I'm not sure. I have zero complaints about this shoe and will look in the future to by other shoes or boots from Scarpa.

Great looking with a nice athletic feel. Good support and can be worn with both casual dress or even with a light weight suit more formally. Very impressed with Scarpa. My wife and I both have Scarpa Crux approach shoes, fantastic hiking shoes!

Very comfortable, looks great. The tongue cuts a little into my ankle, but it's not super noticeable after wearing for a while. I imagine it will soften with time.

Awesome solid quality made shoe. Not that great for hot weather, but fall and winter it's perfect. Fits true to size, and the wide toe box gives your feet space and a solid foundation.

Great shoe and support. I actually use them for work as a home builder so in the field all day often on lots of different terrain. Also pretty rough on shoes and so far these show no signs of adverse wear. Also using them for hiking and everyday wear. The soles are very grippy on all surfaces which is a plus for me. I originally ordered the Euro43 equating to the US10 and it was just a little small. The 43.5 - US10.5 was perfect.

Scarpa Rapid LT fits my foot with great comfort. I wear a size 9M (I ordered size 41) and have high arches, the support could be a bit more for me. The toe box allows enough room for movement and sock options. The padding around the heel hugs nicely keeps foot in place, no chance for blisters here. The foot bed feels spring loaded, gel like . This shoe makes my foot look smaller .Scarpa Rapid LT is ready to go right out of the box for me. I ordered them for work. I work in a warehouse and walk an easy 15 miles per day, not what the shoe was intended to do but made these steps so much easier. Happy feet, happy me!

Fairly cute, if a bit retro-clunky. I returned it because there's really no support and I need that for site walking.

I had a pair of the old Scarpa Attack boots years ago. When they finally wore out after thousands of miles of rock, mud, ice, sand, etc. I went with another leading brand. I've been looking forward to them wearing out so I could get back into some Scarpa boots again. It's been a few years, and I was a little disappointed to see that the Attack is no longer sold, but as soon as my foot was in these boots all my fears were gone. These things are comfy and even tougher than the Attacls were.

These shoes fit pretty much true to size and they were comfortable right out of the box and onto the trail. the grip on rocks is excellent and the upper seems sturdy so far. got lots of compliments on them, too.

I bought these shoes to hike Machu Picchu. They are extremely comfortable while giving my foot maximum support. And they are quite good looking as well. Very, very pleased.

1st run: 4 miles. Straight out of the box. 100% awesome all around. If you like to run all over the dang shop like me, then get these shoes pronto! Stability & balance are supreme with glove comfort and no pressure points. Sturdy but simultaneously minimal and light even with the stock insoles. There's grip within the traction so speed is good on hills, in mulch, grass, dirt roads and loose terrain. I trust they'll be excellent for advanced trails with water, mud and more stuff that nature can throw at you. The low profile design is very nice and is breathable. The size fits perfectly and works well for my neutral to mild underpronating foot strike. I'll be putting Sofsole Airr low profile insoles in 'em and I can't think of a better shoe for for me and its purpose. Thanks Zappos for your top shelf service!

I work all day cleaning out estates and am constantly running around on uneven surfaces, stairs, mud, gravel -- all while carrying heavy stuff. You name it. So I need a good hiking shoe in the summer to replace my work shoes. These I wore and they seem to run big. They do not feel as sturdy or supportive as my keens. But they are sure cute. Not clunky looking at all. My major problem is that the tongue seems to slip down even when tied tight and feels bunchy around the toes. Overall good for light basic. moving. Wish they were waterproof.

The SL Activ is a beautifully made backpacking boot. The sole, which is the same as in the Zanskar and Kinesis Pro, is very stiff and flexes only slightly at the toe - definitely more suited to backpacking than day hiking or everyday use. There is a bit of a rocker in the sole though I have tried similarly stiff boots with a more comfortable gait. The last shape is exceptionally comfortable for my slightly wider than average feet. It is one of the roomier boots volume-wise that I have tried on. Whereas I normally wear a 46 in hiking boots, I ordered the 45.5 knowing they are spacious. I think the sizing was perfect length- and width-wise, but I really have to cinch down on the ankle lacing to keep my heel down. There is generous padding within the boot and around the ankle to reduce the chance of hot spots. Another thing I noticed is that the ankle area is very flexible relative to the rest of the boot, which takes some getting used to. If you are looking for a lot of ankle stability/stiffness, I am guessing the Kinesis Pro or Zanskar would be a better choice based on the upper construction. On a related note, the leather in the ankle and tongue area is somewhat noisy as it flexes and rubs together, in case you were hoping to sneak up on any creatures in this boot. As I understand it the Kinesis Pro is a very similar boot but with a Goretex lining. The Cocona lining in the SL Activ seems to breath well, and based on what I read the thick one-piece leather upper is pretty water resistant if well-maintained. Overall the sole was stiffer than what I was looking for, otherwise I really loved the fit and comfort of the SL Activ. It is one of the most foot-friendly boots I have tried on, gives the impression of extreme durability, and looks like a work of art. To be honest it was a little hard to return.

Do not buy these boots for wildland firefighting. They are extremely rigid and feel like your feet are encased in two concrete blocks. The steel shank kills your feet even after adding insoles. This is my 15th year in fire and I've gone through a lot of boots. Trust me, stick to the Lowas or Haix.

Great fit, very comfortable, good support. All weather Best for cooler weather under 80 deg F otherwise they can be a bit warm. Great for long walks, mild hiking and city use. Love these shoes.

This show rocks! It's the perfect combo between the sensitive and flexible performance of a slipper, and at the same time a precise edging shoe. this is because of the stiffer forefoot. I use this shoe currently for virtually all types of climbing.

We ordered them 1/2 size larger than we normally wear due to the fact that Italian shoes normally run a bit smaller. They fit great and are very comfy.

Great shoes! Very stylish yet super comfortable too. My size 11 feet are very happy to have such a cute shoe that fits so well. I honestly didn't think they would fit as well as they did. Definitely worth the price!

Loved the look of these shoes and they fit well. I was looking for a shoe I could wear all day long walking and standing, and the only drawback to these that I see is that the footbed is a bit firm. I don't think my feet would be comfy in them all day long without adding additional insoles.
