Ryka Reviews
These are adequate for bopping around the gym. Could use a bit more cushioning for high-impact aerobics like Zumba and Kick-Boxing.
For my foot, the space allowed for the heel was too deep and it is hard to fill in. I got a half size larger than marked and it is even not large enough to wear even a thin sock. The space behind the heel is useless. It is a snazzy little shoe and I'm keeping it but the Rykas I bought in the past were more comfortable.
I wanted to like this shoe, but it just doesn't have enough support at the ball of the foot and the big toe. Sad to say, I'll have to return.
I wear Ryka shoes to teach Jazzercise. I teach four or five times a week, so I go through quite a few pair. I had a pair of these a while back and "rediscovered" them and decided to get a new pair. I like the look and feel of them and was glad to see they were still available.
I am very pleased with the Ryka shoes I ordered from Zappos. I received the shoes the next day and they were exactly as shown on-line. I ordered a whole size larger than my regular shoe size, as I always do for fitness shoes, and they fit me perfectly.
I did a lot of research to find a good shoe for my Zumba, Latin dance cardio, and step aerobics classes and thought I found the perfect shoe in this one. Unfortunately, I really don't like how these shoes fit, for quite a number of reasons! The sides of the shoe on either side of the tongue come up too high and rub my ankles. I can't keep them tied tightly enough, the laces & tongue keep slipping and loosening up, thus losing me support (even after double-knots). I think the tongue is too padded. I also don't feel secure doing any kind of high impact (jumping, etc.) movement in these. The balls of my feet become numb after about 10 minutes of any exercise, and I've tried adding inserts but they don't help at all. I ended up getting a pair of running shoes instead, and they've been fantastic! It's a whole new work out now! I'm really disappointed in these shoes, but have worn them a few times now and probably can't return them, although I would really like to. Boo.
Awesome fitting capri. I'm about a 16-18 and the XL's are perfect. It's hard finding exercise clothes that fit larger sizes and these are comfortable and well made.
The shoe was delivered quickly and is very comfortable for the zumba classes which I am taking. The shoe was true to size. Zappos provided excellent pricing.
I've finally found my Zumba shoe. I have tried other brands that were supposed to be great for Zumba but they made my feet cramp, were too wobbly or too heavy. I've worn these Rykas several times now and they are very comfortable and have good support. They are kind of cute too.
This is my third pair of Rykas but this pair in 9.5 is much shorter and narrower than the others-and I wear a narrow. I will have to exchange them for a 10 and see what happens.
I'm not crazy about these shoes. They are more like water shoes. They are very elastic and clingy. There's no room for socks, and my feet get a little clammy. I have other Rykas that I like better. The sole is very spongy.
Returning this shoe -- one shoe had a defect that caused the leather to crease and create a pressure point. The other shoe felt like the arch support was out of place, causing the feeling of a bump where it should not be. If they were made correctly, I think the fit would have been good.
I've only recently discovered Ryka, and I now have two pairs, both really good looking and comfortable! Great for exercising and walking.
Overall these are the perfect balance between sneakers and dance shoes. I use these for Zumba. They are more supportive than dance sneakers and almost as good for turns and spins as my split sole dance sneakers. My only complaint is the right sneaker felt tight in the front and too narrow for my foot. I've loosened the laces and that helped a little. I wish someone could make a dance sneaker with the same level of support as these!
The shoes I ordered were the right size, color, etc. I received them so quickly that I was amazed. These are the only shoes I can wear all day and have my feet not hurt at the end of the day.
I love these shoes. I have three pairs in three different colors. I am a Jazzercise instructor and I have several pairs of Rykas and these are one of my favorites. I find they fit true to size but if you had narrow feet you would likely find these shoes a bit big across the toes. A tall skinny friend of mine with long skinny feet has the same shoes and feels like she cannot lace them up tight enough. The reason why I did not give these shoes five stars across the board is because on all three pairs that I have the detailing on the body of the shoe is separating from the fabric. Oddly enough though, this will not deter me from purchasing another pair as so far this flaw has not compromised the function of these super comfortable and cute shoes.
Thank you for all the reviews, my quest for a good Zumba shoe has ended. I ordered this shoe ( half size larger as others had recommended and it fit perfectly ) - I also ordered the Nike Musique, The Bloch and Reebok Fitnisrush and sent them all back except the Ryka. I used them today in Zumba for the first time and they were great, very comfortable and we do a lot of high impact plus swiveling, which was killing my knees in my other shoes. I just ordered another pair in black.
Love my Ryka downbeat! Fit comfortably from the start. Perfect show for my Zumba workouts. Lightweight and supportive.

Love these shoes! I wear them 5-6 days a week, all day, inside and outside. As a mom of a five-year-old, I do plenty of walking, and these stay comfortable all day.
I really like this shoe. I use it for Hiit, Step, Kickbox. I like the low profile (even with a high-top) and it's very comfortable. It's really cool looking too!
I wanted to like them, and really tried. But overall they just seem cheap. As another reviewer said, the blue "bands" around the forefoot can be restrictive and the shoe gapes open on the sides near the ankle with certain movements. Not the quality I was hoping it would be, I'm sorry to say. Looks like I'll be looking for new shoes, after only 2 weeks in these.
