RJ Colt Reviews
Nice boots with a rugged but stylish look. I have high insteps and usually wear a size 9.5 in dress shoes. Ordered this boot in 10 and fits great. Elastic in upper area allows stretch to get them on. They feel good on and look great with jeans. I even wear them with dress pants and they look good. Burnished toe gives it a nice touch.
Well made and comfortable. Like most slip-ons they are snug, so they need some break-in to loosen up. Got them quickly and in good condition. Am considering getting a second pair at this reduced price.
This is a comfortable boot. I was surprised at how much cushion the soles had. I bought them to wear at work where I'm on my feet most of the day. They have been great. Until they were broken in, they almost rubbed blisters on my heel. Don't give up on them though, they are overall very comfortable. I wear a size 10 tennis shoe, so at first I ordered a size 10 in this boot. It was way too big. I ended up with a size 9 and it fits good. Boot sizes are a little different than tennis shoe sizes.
Out of the box, feels like a quality shoe. Distressed leather is very soft. First time wearing these shoes (12 hours) very comfortable.
I bought these based on looks alone; they have a style I like and are very similar to the discontinued Cinder Cone by Skechers. Pros: They fit true to size and are wearable out of the box. They are comfortable. They are fashionable for both casual and semi casual settings. Cons: They do have a high heel so make sure your pants are hemmed accordingly. Would I recommend them? Yes, I would. Great style. Great comfort.
Do not buy these shoes. I had these a little over a year and wore them maybe 2-3 times a week. The sole started to come apart where it was glued. I was about 2 weeks past the Zappos warranty so these are going in the trash now.
Don't be discouraged by how narrow they feel when first put on, because they really really do. I've never had a shoe feel this tight on the sides but it quickly stretched out after a couple of wears and now feel great. I still took off a star because they shouldn't be that narrowly made. I also took off that star on comfort because, as another reviewer said, they have no loop in the back and I've found them difficult to put on because of that. Otherwise they're a fantastic looking pair of boots, well made, and with very comfortable soles (once you wear them in). I would lastly add that the contrast in coloring on the brown/tan model is not as evident in reality as it looks on the website.
These shoes wear very poorly. After just a few days the trim began to shred at the heels. The shoes do not hold their shape very well either. I liked them when they first arrived, but I regret my purchase. If you do buy them, definitely get half a size smaller than you usually do, but I would suggest passing all together.
Very comfortable boot. Size is right on. I have high insteps and the boots slid on without a problem. There was this grey texture like coating on the boot toes at first (looked fine) but after a day of wearing that wore off, leaving a darkened toe box. That too looks fine but it's a different looking boot now. That said I would definitely buy this boot again and will continue to look at RJ Colts boots in the future.
I bought these for my 18 year old son and he is very pleased with them. They are comfortable and the quality is nice.
My husband loved the look of these boots and they look great on. However, they are junk. After 2 days, pieces of the sole have ripped off (after just wearing around town). The leather has worn terribly. They are made to look distressed but they look 20 years old after 2 weeks of wear. Great looking boot just not worth the money.
This is my first time I ordered shoes from Zappos and will definitely will not be the last. Love everything from the ease of placing the order to the price and quality of the boots I bought.
Selected this specific ankle boot (for my husband) to be an option on casual Friday's at the office as well as weekends out and about after seriously considering the Harley Davidson option. The RJ Colt Minor is upscale enough for an executive office setting but rugged looking enough for all else. Boots have been worn routinely since early December and are holding up great, they seem very well crafted and we would purchase from this manufacturer again. FAST shipping from Zappos!
I liked the look of these boots and got them for what I thought was a great price. Unfortunately, I could never get my feet in them any further than the ankle strap. I ordered my usual size and the foot bed looked to be the right size. I returned them, which is fairly hassle free with Zappos.
Having never purchased RJ Colts before, I was a little skeptical that they would arrive and be flimsy Stacy Adams style fashion boots, but have been constantly thrilled that they are sturdy, flawlessly built, and very attractive. I do not usually write consumer reviews, but I was seriously impressed with these boots. I got them in black when they were still on sale, and they feel like they will last a number of years, they are well worth the price. It is not apparent from the photos, but they are not low boots, the heels give you a good 1½" off of a sneaker height. As with all rugged boots, they required a moderate insole to maintain comfort throughout a full work day, but I find this standard. I would recommend for anyone, except possibly someone primarily focused on boots that will breathe.
These are very well constructed compared to many other boots in the price range. The sizing runs just the tiniest bit small. They have so far stood up to wear and tear rather well, but it has only been a month. Overall, they have been great boots for the price.
These shoes suck. I bought them in December, and by the end of January, the rope was wearing out which exposed the inside lining, making them both cold and very permeable to moisture. They are way too big for what they say they are once they're worn in, at least a size and a half too big. Never buying from this maker again.

Overall: Comfort: Style:
I was somewhat hesitant as a number of reviews spoke about how tight these were. These shoes are great, and I don't understand the whole tightness issue. If anything, they're a tad loose. I was looking for something leaning towards loose because of an achilles issue. They are comfortable, they fit well, and they look fantastic. I absolutely recommend these.
I love quality boots, and after the first winter of wear, I was not disappointed with these. A very good buy for the money: looks, comfort and quality. They quickly and comfortably molded to my feet. You Zappatistas are awesome.
They look good. They feel good. But god forbid if it rains. Not only are these not waterproof, they are like sponges and absorb water. I'm throwing them out after two months.
Good looking, comfortable shoes at a great price. One thing to be aware of: I didn't notice this in the product photos, but these shoes come with a sort of factory distressing where the toe is stained darker than the rest of the upper, as though it's gotten dingy through use. It's not terribly obvious, but it's there. Wish it wasn't, but not badly enough to bother returning them.
