I got this to replace my purse as I often walk to work, and need to tote an iPad and my lunch. It's a nice size - not huge but plenty of room for what I need to carry plus a jacket or shoes. It could easily hold a small laptop. Very comfortable and plenty of little pockets for necessities. It'll be very comfortable for hiking as well.

I have used this bag for the past six + years. Love it! It has had very hard daily use. It holds my life! Goes to work 5 days a week and has traveled extensively on the weekends. It is still in good shape. Nothing is broken or worn out. I will still use it for my everyday job. Just ordered the same exact bag for my business travel. Great pockets, easy access, comfortable shoulder strap and well planned interior. Also own a smaller version of this bag and an Osprey backpack that are equally great.

Just returned from a 3 1/2 week backpacking / train trip through Italy, France and Switzerland. The OSPREY Farpoint 55 was perfect in almost every way.. The only improvement could be larger water bottle / stash pockets on the removable day pack. The pack fits very well with plenty of adjustment. The zippers all have worked flawlessly.

I have hiked, climbed and backpacked for nearly 40 years now and I still think Osprey is the best made and designed pack out there. Carries extremely well and is great for organizing gear in discrete departments. I like the bottom loading section that is separate from the central part. This is for a long day with a fair amount of stuff, or an overnight with lightweight gear.

Perfect size for my 7 year old now and for a few years to come. Very well made, great color blue, and a breathable back.

Awesome bag for travel, you could easily use it on the trail as well. I purchased it specifically for travel in S. America where I would be on moving around a bit and didn't want to have to worry about rolling a bag. The daypack is the perfect size for excursions or the plane. The only cons for the Farpoint 70 would be you'll almost always have to check it, so if that s an issue look at the 40/55. Highly recommend this bag.

A cool, sleek design, but beware of the grey! In the pictures it appears as more of a white, light grey, yet in person it was disappointingly a drab, muted grey... and same with the green straps! It surprises me that osprey would even release it in these unfortunate colors. Definitely going back. But the design is very clever and appealing.

I purchased this backpack from Zappos and took it hiking in backwoods of Colorado Rockies. Backpack performed great. 3 liter bladder is perfect and not obtrusive. The backpack holds much more than is apparent at first glance. It is durable. It easily withstood being drug down the side of a mountain with no adverse affects. Zappos had cheapest price I could find.

I bought this backpack for my son going into Kindergarten. It is a really nice pack and the perfect size. However, he complained that the straps hurt his shoulders. They are a little stiff and need some more padding to them. So sadly, it went back.

This is an awesome pack!! I am 46 years old, 4' 10.5" and rather over-weight. I have been using this pack loaded with about 20 pounds now for a little over a month and have NO complaints! It fits like a dream; honestly, I don't even realize it's there. We just finished a 3-day, 32 mile hike on moderate terrain and have no aches/pains from carrying this pack!

I really like this bag. It fits my new 13.5in work laptop perfectly. At first I thought it was a little too snug, but the bag is so light, and I love the extra padded shoulder strap, that I decided to keep it. I took off one star because I wish there was another exterior pocket. Otherwise, a great bag for commuting to and from work on the train with my laptop, documents, wallet and lunch.

Great little pack. Used it as a carry on and a out and about diaper bag. Nice size, good pockets. Lack of water bottle holder on outside is a bit of a pain, would be more so on the trail. Nice styling, good buy.

Great bag! Comfortable to carry, even when loaded down with Macbook, iPad, and other essentials. Not too big, not too small. Exactly what I was looking for. Love the light color, too and interchangeable colored straps.

I bought this bag to supplement my leather bag (heavy but stylish), my timbuk2 messenger bag (functional but leaves pulls in my clothing) and "men's" Oggi laptop bag (functional but large). The Osprey is smaller than the Oggi by enough of a difference to fit my small frame better than the Oggi. The Osprey is much better quality where it counts - straps, stitching, clips etc. Plenty of space to segregate all the items I carry. The design is a bit funkier than I would prefer, but still looks nice (grey) and is very comfortable. I wanted a lighter bag for commuting by train/subway/walking. This bag is the right bag for hoofing it around NYC. And, if I decide to ride in NJ, I could definitely use it as a messenger bag. I'm very satisfied with this purchase.

I have always been a Mountainsmith guy. Being that I couldn't find a hydration pack with them I was forced to look elsewhere. I compared Arcteryx, Mountain Hardwear, Marmot and Camelbak. They have nothing on Osprey. When you see the materials used you understand how they are able to give the warranty that they do, Lifetime! Not for defects, for anything! No matter how old. They thought of everything. I've never seen such care and attention to detail go into any bag ever. Love this bag. I will be upgrading my heavy backpack to Osprey for sure and any bag I need in the future will be Osprey. So worth the money.

This is a great hiking pack. 3L of water is great for a day hike. Pack rested comfortably with straps. Waste strap is a little thin, so might get uncomfortable for really long hikes, but was comfortable for me on a 9 hour intermediate hike. Love all the pockets.

Overall this is a good messenger bag for the price. I would have preferred at least one more exterior pocket (water) and another interior mesh pocket for incidentals. Otherwise, no complaints.

This is a fantastic backpack! I love that it is super functional, yet stylish and not your typical-looking backpack. It has plenty of pockets, and I like that the water bottle holder pocket zips all the way up. It also has a hidden pocket inside the large pocket on the inner right-hand side which is cool too. I replaced my old North Face backpack with this one, and I'm glad that I did. It is constructed really well and has plenty of room for storage without being too bulky. I would definitely recommend this backpack to anyone!

Very happy with this bag! Pros: - Memory foam type padding on straps and top handle make it comfortable. - Main compartment is separate from the computer, so my lunch, papers, etc. don't get smashed. - Plenty of space with a small silhouette. - The color is darker than in the photo. Cons: - Chest and waist straps not necessary for daily commute for me. Could be an advantage for others. - Wish there was a small pocket (maybe on the strap itself?) for keys and phone.

Cute bag, although the strap is much too short for tall people to wear as intended (I'm 5'10"), as a cross-body bag. Sad because other than that, I love it! Will be returning.

This a great pack with a couple of key issues that doom it for me. It does not have outside mesh side pockets and it also has the wrong shape for me. Outside mesh pockets are great for water bottles (that inevitably get covered in condensation) or compact tripods (I'm a photographer). It does have a side zipped pocket that might be okay for a really small tripod, but it is too small for a full size Nalgene and, if you for a water bottle, the condensation would get it all wet inside the pocket. It would also be a pain to access without taking off the pack. There is only one of these side pockets, too, which can imbalance the pack if it is filled with a liter of water. There is an inside mesh pocket on the opposite side, but this is not too useful for a water bottle and if used to hold a tripod, it is not convenient or safe for the other photo equipment. The shape is doesn't for my needs. I understand that the one great benefit of this design (flat and wide) is that you do not ram your pack into other people on the subway or in line at the airport and that it has much less sway when fully loaded. There is a practical problem with this design, though. Packs that have a footprint that is more square than rectangular are always easier to use because one can more easily see into the bottom of the pack and it stands upright with more stability. Obviously this is a trade off. For me, I am always digging into my pack for my equipment, so the Flap Jack's design was not ideal for me.
