New Balance began as a Boston-based arch support company in the early 1900s, developed into a specialized manufacturer of shoes in the 1970s, and has grown to become a leading global athletic products company. Today New Balance is a family of brands including New Balance, Dunham, PF Flyers, Aravon, Warrior and Brine.

Since the days of selling arch supports to police officers and waiters, New Balance has been a brand concerned with meeting the needs of the everyday athlete. In pursuing this goal, they developed an "Endorsed By No One" philosophy, which holds that a superior product will sell itself better than any superstar athlete ever could. Part of producing New Balance shoes and athletic clothing is manufacturing it to fit all widths and sizes, because a better fit produces better performance.

To ensure the best fitting, best performing shoes and clothes, New Balance focuses on improving their technology and production methods. A big part of that is maintaining five manufacturing facilities here in the United States where they continue to produce New Balance shoes and apparel that meet the standards they've employed for 100 years. They have also remained committed to a core set of values that include integrity, teamwork and total customer satisfaction.

This is the most comfortable cross trainer I have ever used. I am wide through the ball of the foot and have a high arch. This shoe does not compress my metatarsals together, like many other athletic shoes. I have bilateral neuromas from compression on this area and from years of teaching aqua-aerobics on cement. This is one of the shoe brands that the podiatrist recommended that would work best with the orthotics he made me. The NB cross trainer has the arch support built into the last. The result is much less to no pain daily from the neuromas: no sharp pain, no tingling, no toes falling asleep. Wonderful overall for athletes and trainers who need an all around performance shoe that has good width in the toebox and good arch support.

These were advertised as Diabetic sneakers with smooth inside, etc. I was disappointed when I got them since the stitching on the tough is exposed and rough. It will rub on my feet. They go back. Why consider them Diabetic when there is stitching inside?

My orthotic fit inside this shoe very well, though it was comfortable with just the original arch support that came with the shoe. The toe bed is very wide and extremely comfortable. I feel very stable walking or jogging in these shoe. I wear them all the time in summer in the white color, but am glad to have black to go with my winter clothes. I wear them with black slacks or jeans and they don't call attention like the white summer version did. I wish they came in brown for women. My husband wears the brown version of the 623 model in winter.

I'd also recommend: Clarks

I bought these shoes in a 7W which is usually very comfortable but these are big enough for my arch supports as well. They are my third pair of New Balance and I love them.

I have very wide feet and found the New Balance 623 easily accommodated the width and fit my high arch orthodics too. They offer good stability for my cross training activities.

I wear a 12AA, thank you Zappos for being so patient and allowing me to try 2 different shoes. From the reviews I thought the Saucony's would be the ones -- but WX623 are great, even though they run a little shorter, the snug heel for a narrow foot, makes up the difference. Thanks for your fab service.
