Mulholland Brothers Reviews
Wow! A very distinctive man bag, made in the USA, lovely plump unstructured leather and a truly individual design, capacious and certainly not a mini no depth size, so much better than all the overtanned soft metro bags. Well made with canvas support inside. Tough old zippered pocket on the reverse and car seat strapping cross body or shoulder hang (comfortable too). This bag will age so nicely too. Well, that's enough praising it, now let's do some traveling, to London specifically.
The briefcase is beautiful construction, shoulder pad has a lot of cushion, though needs breaking in. I'm returning it for a ballistic briefcase which may last longer with the crazy weather in Chicago.
Great product. Many compliments about looks since purchasing. Strongly assembled. Of course, Zappos service was terrific.
Really beautiful looking bad, but received it today and the zipper is really hard to work. I don't think the zipper is broken, but just difficult. I expected more for a bag of this price. Also, a little bigger than I expected, but still a nice looking bag. Because of the zipper, I'm returning it.
I purchased my Mulholland Bros. Messenger Bag in 1999. I carry it every winter - all winter long. Today...I am asked by many "Where did you get that bag?" It seems the more I use it the better it looks! I can't wait to purchase another one. The lariat leather would be nice to get for Christmas. I really enjoy carrying my Mulhand Bros Mess. Bag. It hold so much and wears nicely over my shoulder. Overall, everything about this bag is great. I highly recommend it!
This is a beautiful bag, no question about it. However, it has several issues that are simply inexcusable in such an expensive carryall. I will unfortunately be returning it. Pros: The color of the leather is just beautiful, much better than on the website, a golden tan really. The layout and design is ideal, it is the perfect size, heft, and has very convenient side pockets. In my extensive research, this bag's layout is as perfect as it can get for an overnight/carryall bag. It has two removable dividers internally if you need to carry documents/computer, or you can remove them to carry clothing/shoes. The exterior pockets are key in terms of convenience. Ergonomics are great (with one major exception below) Cons: The poor fit and finish are alarming. There are traces of glue spilling out of seams onto the leather, lack of brass supports, and worst of all while the dual zipper pull at the top is attractive and convenient in theory, in reality, the bag is impossible to open and close without shimmying both zippers with two hands individually. While the zippers appear hefty, they do not appear to be aligned correctly. Perhaps I received a defective model, or perhaps there is an inherent defect. The leather tanning process has clearly cut corners as the quality of the Lariat leather itself is surprisingly unimpressive, and it would not surprise me if the leather started cracking/deteriorating within a few years. This is alarming because at this price, this is close to a lifetime bag. Lack of brass supports on the bottom are unusual for a bag at this price point. The nylon interior lining seems very cheap on a bag this beautiful. A simple or subtle checkered, removable washable cotton twill would have been much classier Bottom line, this is a perfect bag for a considerably cheaper price. But at this price you have got to be kidding! There are literally a couple dozen or more leather bag makers out there that provide better value than this. If you can get a good deal on this bag on Overstock.com or eBay, go for it. But at full retail price it really is insulting to an educated buyer.

I purchased this bag for my first teaching position and am very happy with it. Great workmanship, quality material, and stellar looks. I particularly like the hidden snaps that allow easy access. It's not cheap, but it should last for many years.
I love this bag! It is perfect for carrying iPad, phone and a few other items. Super comfortable, the bag is extremely soft but maintains it form. I was nervous about the buckle and accessing the inside but it is very easy and quick to handle. Highly recommend!
Material (leather, zippers, etc.) are very poor quality for a pricey shave kit. Interior pocket is big enough to hold a few business cards and I guarantee that the pocket zipper will malfunction within six months. I would compare this to an item found at the local American Eagle/Aeropostale-esque shop for less. Good size toiletry bag, but the poor build quality was a surprise for the cost.

I have owned this bag for almost a year and love it. It is versatile, functional and made very well. It is the kind of bag that you can easily own for a lifetime! It fits my ipad, magazines, journal and daily essentials. I loved it so much that I had to get the red one too! I highly recommend this bag as it has to many possibilities!
The good: I love the size of the bag. I find it perfect for a carry-on. The leather is not stretched like lower priced bags, making it more durable and longer lasting. Looks great when riding trains through Europe, reminds me of those vintage Gladstone travel bags. Almost always receive complements everywhere I go. The not so good: The bag is heavy, about 5 pounds empty. So when filled with travel gear it can get heavy carrying it around a large airport or through the city. I purchased the Lariat Leather color and find it just too clean and new; like bringing a brand new glove to a baseball game. It also makes every scratch and stain very visible. I'm hoping it will darken somewhat with age and adding some character and patina. I also find the brass clasp or buckle to be way too shinny. The rest of the brass hardware has just the right texture and patina which will look great after a couple of years use. But I can’t see the brass buckle aging along with the rest of the hardware. It's just too shinny and seems to have a lacquered coat which the rest of the brass hardware does not (thankfully). Overall, I like the bag. I think I will be much happier with it after 4 or 5 years of use (like a good baseball glove). And it looks like it can last a lifetime if taken care of properly.
I purchased this bag four months ago (in the soft Lariat Leather) and use it daily. The soft fuzzy nap of the leather is starting to wear and it looks great. I'm very happy that I chose this color over the shiny, cured hides because it looks and feels as expensive as it actually cost (and this is a lot for a bag). The construction is solid, and I have no doubt that this bag will last me a decade (and probably look better than it does now). I did a lot of research before spending so much money, and if you're considering buying a Mulholland Bros. product you should definitely research them on their website. This is a luxury bag made with the highest-quality materials and craftsmanship. Undeniably 5 stars.
I was disappointed with the quality of this bag. I would purchase it but for far less. The leather itself is not top grade and the construction is weak. I purchased the dark brown and the actual color was ashy. For the price I had to return it.

I bought this brief bag for my husband and he loves it. It replaced one he had for over 5 years. It was very hard to find one that met all his requirements. It has all the right size compartments and the leather is beautiful. He will be caring this bag for the next 5 years.
I purchased this bag for Christmas for my husband. I needed something sturdy (he's hauling 30 pounds of paper and travel gear at any given time!) and good-looking. This bag is it. I think it's a bit pricey but he's worth it. It is bomb-proof leather, with heavy-duty construction, looks cool (but not too flashy), and he loves it! The front buckles are actually snaps (to access both the smaller pouches on the front of the bag and the main pouch). I thought this might be kind of a pain (as opposed to zippers) but he assures me it is not inconvenient at all. There's a thin zipper-accessed pocket on the back (for airline confirmations and maybe a newspaper, easy access in and out!). I'm contemplating getting him another bag before they sell out. Zappos, as usual, is too easy with no problems with ordering, receiving confirmations, or shipping. I love this web site and wish there were more like it! Thank you Zappos!

I love this bag! I am a professor, and I needed a briefcase bag that was strong enough to carry my books without getting ruined, but didn't look too student-like or too business-like. This is it! Very cool.

Originally conceived as a way of channeling their wildness, the Holland family, comprising of a father and his two sons, founded Mulholland® in 1984 in the basement of their house. The Mulholland line began with making things they knew such as fly reels and shotgun cases all by hand then testing them out themselves on the weekends. Using the finest raw materials that they knew could take a beating; they sold them to a loyal customer base that enjoyed a way of life similar to their own. Back then, all proceeds from what was sold was kept in an old coffee can.
