Manduka Reviews
I absolutely love this mat! I think the people who says it's slippery, hasn't properly cleaned it before using, this is so far the stickiest mat I have ever used. It is a bit heavy, but I don't mind at all as I don't need to carry it around the whole day. I have used it for 3 months now, 4 times a week, and it doesn't show any wear yet.
All in all its a pretty good mat I used it for hot/viniayasa yoga and am sweating buckets by mid class, it does get slippery if its too wet but like I said buckets so usually there's a little puddle on my mat. The only complaint is it does bleed and has stains a couple of clothes even after a couple washes.
Zappos has the best service. Im consistantly amazed by how easy it is shopping with Zappos. This towel is perfect for yoga, just work up a bit of a sweat before you put it on your mat for best results. I've found after ten or fifteen washes that its not as grippy as my mat is when I am not sweating. Great product and best yoga towel you can buy however.
I'm 5'10 with a 36 inseams so after discovering hot yoga 2 years ago, I'm finally searching for the perfect mat that doesn't require a towel on top to prevent slipping. This is a quality mat but doesn't prevent my hands from slipping. Thanks Zappos for easy return policy!

I love this yoga mat with the extra width! It provides nice cushioning, and is softer than the Pro mat. It is my new favorite. Zappos service is simply the best!

This is a nifty little wrap to keep yoga mats organized. I teach yoga and have several mats in my trunk. These keep everything organized and I can grab and go. Prefect in all sizes of mats., even the largest Mankuka long black mat pro.

Excellent towel! I tested it in yoga and bodyflow classes on top of a communal yoga mat at the gym, instead of having to carry around a big mat and loved it. But you have to wet it just a little bit to avoid any slip where you put your hands and feet. Washes easily and dries fast. I already bought the hand size too for spinning class. Amazing service from Zappos, got it next day!
This holds my feet better than any mate so there is no slipping. I use it over a mat on hard floor surface or over a thin rug and when traveling.
This very thin sticky mat folds up like a towel, transports very easily. Provides great grip with no slipperiness. Has no padding but does well on a hotel carpet for travel or to bring to lay over a mat at the yoga center for your own comfort regarding germs etc. As I travel for work, it is fantastic to throw into my carry on and be able to do my routines on the road. But it has virtually no padding so you really need to be on another mat (as at a gym) or on a rug or carpet.

Bomb proof yoga mat. Built to last a lifetime. I have practiced on it for 3 weeks and it continues to break in and get stickier by the day. Only thing to mention, it isn't the thickest feeling mat under your knees in cat/cow etc. However, this is the same feature that provides excellent stability in standing poses. It may become softer with use but that is why I gave it 4 stars for comfort.

(I'm driven to add a review to defend what is rightfully considered "the Cadillac of yoga mats", since it currently has only one bad review.) I love this mat. It is incredibly durable. I've had mine for a couple years now and it literally looks and feels brand new. I've washed it once, just rinsed it in the shower. I am a pretty heavy sweater by nature, and yes, it does get slippery where wet, just like every other mat I've ever tried (haven't tried the Lulu towel mat though). I just shift over an inch as needed or lean on a towel. However, the bottom of this mat is incredibly grippy - I do plyometrics and cardio on my mat all the time, jumping with full body weight side to side and it doesn't budge with my hardwood floor beneath it. That is not true of my other 2 yoga mats. Only complaint - I wish it were longer (without the price hike). It does have a slight odor from time to time (stronger when brand new) - but from what I've read, nearly all the best durable mats do. Honestly this doesn't bother me, and it's a worthy exchange for not having to replace my mat every year or two. Great quality! Pays for itself in a couple years, and then just keeps going like new.
Save your money! Manduka claims (after you receive the mat) that there is some sort of film that makes the mat initially a little slippery, but that it comes off in a little while. Well, I tried using this mat in a DRY environment, and was not sweating in the least, and I was sliding all over this mat. Upon further research, Manduka claims that this film wears off . . . after daily usage of three months! I can't even practice for three minutes without my hands sliding across it in downward dog! And I see NO evidence of any sort of film. I bought this mat because I couldn't take my Lululemon with me, and they don't ship to APO addresses. I teach yoga to soldiers, and had to cancel my class because I couldn't use my own mat! And at this price, there is NO excuse. Zappos is fabulous, as always, but this mat is going back.
If you have the MANDUKA mat you MUST BUY this towel. 500% better than YogiToes. I practice both heated flow AND Hot Yoga...stellar product for both. buckled towel no more...gone are the interruptions to my yogic state of mind as i transition among asanas having to straighten my YogiToes. you will absolutely love this towel and notice your yoga practice deepen exponentially! Nasmaste :-)
Great towel to use for wiping off sweaty hands. I've used it about 3 times since purchasing from Zappos and have been happy with it so far. It is indeed small and will be a good 'mat side' towel for use.
A great block - sturdy, comfortable and most importantly simple. I definitely prefer this cork natural look and feel to the bright colored plastic ones available.

I am not pleased with this purchase for two reasons. One, the mat is not lightweight. It's actually on the heavy side when compared to other regular mats. Second, it began to mold after a week of use. I use it in Bikram, rinse and hang it to dry after each class, and the mold appeared after about 7 classes. Gross white/orange flaky mold. It rinsed off with water but I imagine that it will reappear. I'd recommend this mat only for use in regular non-hot yoga classes.
Manduka mats must be cleaned before using. Manduka's website wil give you the directions on how to use salt to clean mats. I hope this is helpful. They helped me with my mat. There customer service is great. Good luck!
I really love this mat because you can fold it up and take it anywhere! You don't have to worry about how to transport the bulky mats and it's lightweight. However, I have two problems - one is it's not as padded as most (obviously) so if the studio doesn't have a mildly padded floor it's kind of uncomfortable. Second, I bought the santorini color and it was so much different in person! It's just blue not a turquoise blue like in the picture, which is disappointing because I really wanted the turquoise it looks like in the picture. However, this isn't Zappos fault because it appears this color in every picture on the internet even Manduka's website. Now I have to debate if I want to keep the not so cute blue color or exchange it for the grey color.
This is the best towel I've tried for hot yoga. It's thick on your feet for standing poses, and also nice and soft on your face when you're laying on your stomach. It stays put, doesn't move around, and absorbs lots of sweat. If I'm not doing a whole load of laundry, I can wash it out in the sink, squeeze the water out, and hang dry on a rack if I want to use it the next day because it doesn't take as long to dry as regular towels. When I do wash it in the washer, I still hang it on a rack to dry, I don't put it in the dryer. The directions do say to hang dry or dry on low heat. Love it! I'm getting another color.
This mat is pretty thin, as another reviewer mentioned, but I too am a fan. I love that its a bit lighter, but what I like the best is the durability. This mat feels like it will be around for a long time! Great Zappos service as always.

I really like this mat. It is my first 'expensive' mat and I am very happy with it. I selected the black color (in case my husband needed to borrow it) and I like black. It is very thin and sticky enough for me. I don't prefer thick mats, so this one is right on. I like the slight texture and it really feels like it will last and not crumble like my cheap mat did. I recommend it!

Manduka® is a company founded on the simple idea that a better yoga mat can make a world of difference - literally! About a decade ago, Peter Sterios, an architect turned yogi, discovered a simple, elegantly-designed black mat whose unique combination of firm grip and complete support revolutionized his yoga practice. In honor of the yoga masters who inspired him, he sought to share this amazing product with others. And in the great yoga tradition, these yoga teachers then shared their mats with their students, and a true yoga company was born. Now, the joy of Manduka® is spoken in more than 35 countries worldwide.
