Keen Taylor 13" Messenger Bag
This bag is OK. At least it is once some weight gets added to it, maybe 10 pounds, the aluminum compression strap keeps slipping, I had to buy a regular side-release buckle, and removed the aluminum one. There is little padding for your shoulder, so about 30 minutes into carrying it, you can really feel it. I bought a portage brand Velcro padded strap and it is much better. The other complaint is that you cannot put too much stuff in it, and it is not padded enough for a tablet or netbook. Finally, the bottom of the bag does not spread out, so the three compartments all have to share the same space, which means you end up putting all your stuff in the main middle compartment. There is a nice place for two pens, two devices like an iPod Touch and a cell phone. The two outer pockets can hold a 20 ounce water bottle nicely.

I've been eyeing this bag forever but it took a long time to get to Canada so I bought it during a trip to my sister's in the US. I love Keen bags for their durability and fabrics. Clever pockets and plenty of compartments. The strap is fine for me but I don't really carry my bags very heavily. If I loaded it up more, it might cut in a little. I really appreciate the back handle. I wanted a bag to hold my macbook if needed, but if not, could still look good and not overwhelmingly large for just my iPad, charger, some books, snacks, wallet and a water bottle. I've used it for 2 weeks and it's just fine. If there is a complaint, it's that the pockets on the side look big but are too small for a large water bottle or a coffee mug, but a 500mL bottle fits fine. Also, if you're somewhere with a lot of rain, this might not be your best choice if you want total computer protection. It's a great bag and I've very pleased with it.
I'd also recommend: luglife, osprey

I bought this bag to replace my giant purse which was killing my shoulders. I work AND go to school, spending quite a bit of time on the road and using different methods of commuting (car, public transportation and walking). This bag is very comfortable when worn cross body. The strap is adjustable so you can set where it rests best on you. It hits me perfectly at hip length and I can forget that I'm wearing it. It has just enough compartments to help me stay organized, without it being "where the heck did I put that?!". There is a flat interior pocket lining the back wall, so to speak of the bag, another in front. It has a pen holder and a couple of pockets perfectly situated to hold your cell phone and mp3 player (assuming you don't have them in one) and if you, well, then you have another pocket don't you?). It's insulated and waterproof. I walked through a pretty bad rainstorm and everything in the bag stayed dry. I wouldn't immerse it, it's not a magic bag, but more than ample to withstand most of what you can put it through. I've been using it daily for the past of months with no of wear. I absolutely LOVE the side water pockets, but the strap buckle takes up too much room in one of them. I find it a bit incongruous that there is a tiny slip through fastener to hold it closed when there is a seat belt buckle to adjust the strap length, but it is backed up by a significant patch of velcro on the flap and I've never had the bag open without my help. If there were a larger size with the same features, I might upgrade since it's JUST short of the amount of space I need to carry two text books. On the other hand, I carry routinely a plastic portfolio that holds my schoolwork, a datebook, journal, notebook, makeup bag, wallet and eyeglass case. Oh, almost forgot that there is a great key chain holder with a nice reach so thatyou can attach your keys to it and never have to hunt through your bag.

This bag was just what I was looking for. Handy to tote daily supplies and water resistant. I really appreciate the side pocket for a water bottle [but the strap buckle makes if difficult to put a second bottle on that side]. The bag has useful pockets - but not too many where you can't find where you put things. My laptop is a bit too big for the bag, but that's not what I use it for.

So far so good! Nearly every morning my day begins running around my house looking for my keys, or my wallet, or my phone. My husband was getting fed up with this so I decided to trade in my black hole of a bag for something that could provide a little bit more organization. This bag is the perfect not-too-big bag but big enough to hold everything I need including a commuter mug or water bottle in the outside pocket. The built in key clip, phone pocket in addition to a larger and smaller compartments has given me a place for my essentials that are always getting misplaced.
