Irish Setter Reviews
These boots are amazing! It took two weeks to break them in. They look great and fit awesomely. I wear a size 13 and ordered size 13. They fit true to size. I hope they last for a long time.

Very comfortable boot, but the quality just isn't there. I am a carpenter by trade, and under what I would consider light duty they got shredded day one. The toes were just destroyed, the color instantly came out, and the leather just shredded. They should sell these as walk around boots to bikers, not as work boots.
These are great boots. I wouldn't want any other lace up boot; they're so comfortable and look awesome. I highly recommend them if you're an outdoorsy kind of person and the service from Zappos was nothing short of flawless - free next day shipping, ya can't beat it - unbelievable service.

Great boot after break in. Got the extra wide. Seems to have plenty of room inside. Break in takes maybe two weeks, had to tape my heels up 'til then due to blistering. The boots have great arch support. The mesh seems nice for ventilation around the top but could have problems if used around hot work. Boot seems to hold shape very well after break in as well.
I put these on inside my house, and walked around for 5 or 10 minutes. I initially was going to return them, I have never had the 'Crock Style' rubber type of shoe, and I just wasn't liking them... I sat on the couch, fell asleep for about 20 minutes with the shoes on, about an hour later I was working on my Harley and doing little chores outside and totally forgot I had them on, needless to say I like and am keeping them. They seem to suck your foot in with a vacuum seal, my only concern now is the lack of ventilation, but regardless I do like them now.
Wow! These are killer boots. I was a carpenter until I broke my back. Now, I work as a doctor. I hate office clothes. Dress shoes, slacks, dress shirts, etc...make me feel girly...really girly. It's taken me a while to find suitable office jeans (see Kuhl Rydr), and these boots are the perfect complement. They look dressy, but they're 100% manly boots. Stop dressing like a sissy man, and get these boots!

Gave these to my husband as a gift. He loves them; he asked me the other day when I was going to get him a new pair - these are only 2 months old. He wants a new pair for going out. I will get him a new pair next month.

I'm a heavy construction foreman (rebars, concrete, etc). I'm using one of the best pair of shoes I got. When it comes to up and down the scaffolding or going down to the proposed big building foundation I used this very comfortable Irish Setter 83401 6 inch waterproof hiker shoes. (Also I has pair of Irish Setter 6 inch lace-up soft toe 83605 and 2 pairs of red wing original two 4304 black and cigar in color). God bless the USA!
Quick delivery by Zappos. These boots appear to be well made. They have a thick solid sole. Very soft and comfortable on the inside. This is my first pair of Irish Setters and I am pleased with them so far. I have not really had the chance yet to test their warmth in the cold yet. They run a size big. I usually wear a Nike size 14 but the Irish Setter 13 fit me just fine, even with my orthotic insert.
I needed a work shoe that could be easily slipped on and off. This is it. Very comfortable and seems up to every task I have.
I've had these for about two weeks now, and they're finally broken in and feel very comfortable. During work they protect my feel all day while I'm standing up, and when I scrap into things. Very good work boots, and I've been stopped by coworkers to compliment the boot design. Once these are gone I plan on buying another pair of 807's.
I am a farmer (not previous reviewers boyfriend) and have bought every brand of boot in search for the right one. These are it! Comfortable from the first day with a 1-2 day break in period but I wear them around town to do that. The aluminum toe makes this boot much lighter than most other boots and does not conduct cold as well either. They handle snow rain and mud very well. It's hard to get them soaked unless you step in a deep puddle. Tread is aggressive yet comfortable. If you're on your feet working hard like me, you will appreciate these boots.
Don't get it twisted, Irish Setter boots made by Red Wing Shoes USED to make quality union made boots in the USA for blue collar workers. They have since moved production to China. These, made in China on the tongue boots are awful. I had to put band aids on my heels to finish the first day of work due to the hard plastic non conforming heel cup. Hot spots all over my feet. I never had these problems before. Now that they are used I can no longer be return to Zappos. I can't believe I was duped into paying pricey dollar boots that probably cost less dollars to make. Never again! Wish I could give 0 stars!
Got the boots very fast and greatly priced from Zappos. I am a forester and logger in Arkansas and have seen terrain from swamps to rocky mountains and feel that this model Irish Setter boot is THE best! I have worn cheap brand name boots to expensive hand-made boots and would not trade this model for 10 of your highest sellers! Break-in time is quick, quality is Great, and they last a long time if you take care of them. Thanks for carrying them!

Ordered these boots to wear as nice boots out. The plain toe was $40 more expensive. The aluminum toe just adds to extra support in boot. They are very nice boots. I would highly recomened these to anyone. I also ordered at the same time a pair of Timberland Pro series and after wearing them for a week they started hurting my feet if I knew I could return them I would. Should have bought 2 of these and used one for work.
Overall, a pretty nice pair of boots. Weatherproof, nice materials, good for the Minnesota winter. That being said, be prepared to have a struggle to break these boots in - they will fight you back. Good things: - nice material - well made - will probably last forever - good boots for bad weather - comfortable. Not good things: - laces untie relatively easily - moderate arch support (where it should be superb, for a work style boot) - footbed is, for lack of a better word, hard; a bit of a surprise when I was expecting soft and cushy.
The soles of these boots are made of a very hard plastic type material. They slip off of virtually everything I stepped on similar to what a snow shovel would do. At about 40 degrees they seemed to get even harder. Walking on hard surfaces like pavement, rocks, or concrete made such a clatter it sounded like all of Santa's reindeer without the bells. I decided they were dangerous since the soles were so slippery. As a hiking boot - they slide off rocks. as a working boot - they slide off concrete steps. This is the first I have come across such a difficult shoe to use. The black parts of the boots are not a rubber you would expect, they are very thin and scratch or tear very easily, I felt I could dig into them with my fingernail. They were warm enough for me even thought they are not insulated. The nerf bar or side step on my truck has a hard plastic tread and these boots had a similarly hard plastic so getting into the truck was a challenge. I decided not to ever wear them. I could not give them away as they seemed dangerously slippery. I hope you can imagine this and be very careful.
I am very happy with this boot. It is well-made with heavy leather and stitching. It was pretty comfortable brand new and really didn't need much of a break-in period. The styling is rugged, but look good with khakis in a casual work attire.
After switching styles and sizes 5 times I ended up with this boot. Having a pair of red wings I figured the sizing was similar, it was not. I would say these run .5 size long and wide. I also tried the Wingshooter by Irish Setter which had a different fit altogether. The first long walks in these were painful. The leather is quite stiff at first, but after breaking them in they are great. The leather really conformed to my foot making it really comfortable even after 10+ hrs. I ride the train in Chicago so I'm walking and climbing stairs and these boots have been soft and cushioned every time. Yeah, so, if you are OK with a stiff break in, go for it.
