The sole on this Inov-8 is more flexible and thinner than other pairs of Inov-8s that I've tried. It's much more of a minimalist shoe with less structure. It's not quite as wide as I'd like in the toe box, though it fits well at the heel. The sole feels comparable to VivoBarefoot. It's a thicker sole than I want for running (half my miles are barefoot, the other half in very thin sandals called Unshoes), though many people are going to want that level of protection from rocks and stickers.

I've been using this shoe for cross training for about a month and I'm still not sure how well I like them. They look good. One of the little shoe string tabs on the tongue broke in the first week. Based on reviews, I ordered a half size down and they seem to be long enough but they feel a little tight. Kind of wish I would have just ordered my regular size. I'm not disappointed, but so far I'm not convinced that I need to run out and by another pair.

These are the most comfortable pair of Inov-8 sneakers in my collection. I have the mud claw and road X inov-8 but I seem to reach for these first before any of the others. The size runs a little small. I'm usually a 9-10 but wear a snug 10.5 with these. I'd recommend these for basic trail running/walking/hiking, general indoor/outdoor training and for regular everyday activities. They are not built for wet/muddy conditions as my mud claws are but they stand up pretty while with everything else.

Great shoes, very light and comfortable. I wanted them for P90X, but I use them all the time. Perfect size. Everybody tells me they are cool. Only problem: The shoelaces get un-tied easily, I double them. I am very happy with them.

I really enjoyed wearing these shoes. For some reason I had it in my mind that these might be good for hiking (maybe it's the mention of "trail" in the description), so I wore them for a hike. It was more climbing than I anticipated, but these shoes still gripped rocks and prevented slippage. I didn't risk them on one of the higher peaks b/c I wasn't terribly sure how secure they'd be, but if I were a more confident climber in general, I would've gone for it. The lightweight, barefoot feel didn't create any negative impact on my feet or knees while jumping down from modest heights. Comfortable on various terrain all day. The extra wiggle room in the width didn't bother my medium width foot. B/c of the size conversions, the only option was truly a half size larger than my usual size. I'm a fan, though I will be investing in some uglier, hardcore hiking shoes as a back-up.

I am on my 5th or 6th pair of 195's. If you are looking for a shoe that really allows you to achieve a proper lifting base, particularly with squats, deadlifts, etc., and transition into a sprint or run immediately, this is it. This is a great shoe. There are a few things to be aware of, however: I run 8-14 miles several days per week, and my pace has dropped about 45 seconds per mile with these shoes (from a 6:15 average to about 7:00 average). The stride is necessarily shorter and thus, more strides per distance traveled. More importantly, it took me about 4 months, yes months, to adjust to running any distance in these shoes. With the foot being able to travel more naturally, the achilles extension is like never having used your lower legs before. Sore! A year-and-half later, I can't walk in anything with a heel bigger than about 8mm now without tripping, and my calves are quite muscular. Also, like any quality running shoe, they will only last you about a month and a half if you use them for running. With that said: Once you adjust to these shoes, as you would for any minimal drop shoe, they rock. For cross-training, or multi-modal training, you will hard-pressed to find a better shoe.

The shoe fit true to size, spot on. I love this shoe. I purchased the Mud Claw specifically for steep, technical obstacle course racing. The tread is VERY aggressive and grippy. If you're not running very steep, loose, muddy or rocky terrain, it is probably too much tread for a standard TR shoe. It is PERFECT for the purpose though. It's a bit of a minimal style shoe, not much cushion, not much heel/toe drop. Still a good comfy runner if you're used to a less cushioned shoe. I wear Saucony Kinvara as a road shoe and the Kinvara TR for usual trail running, this shoe is a perfect transition from those to a more aggressive trail shoe. Hope this helps. I won't go on about fit as it fit just as most running shoes do.

I love my inov-8 Roclite 315's and you simply can't beat Zappos great service. I run long distance, usually on rugged mountain trails and these shoes really protect my feet from roots and rocks. Because they are so protective, they tend to be a little stiff. For less rugged terrain, I love my lighter and more nimble 312s.

I've had my Inov8 shoes for about 3 week's and they are fantastic! Barefoot enough to give that light, nimble and fully flexible feel that you'll love if your use to wearing barefoot type shoes, with just enough sole under foot to protect your from from harsh surfaces at work (concrete floors). This is a great product, I'll be getting another pair of Inov8 shoes soon!

True to size, yes. It was spot on, as well as true to width. No arch support really, but I wanted a flat shoe for crossfit. So no complaints here. I bought these shoes specifically for indoor crossfit and they are perfect. Keep in mind the bottoms don't have any cleats or traction so you will be sliding around a basketball court. If you step on a rock outside while running you're going to feel it. This is the one thing that really bothers me. It was my fault though, didn't really pay attention when I got them. These shoes weigh almost nothing. I don't even know they're on sometimes. Next Inov-8s I get will have more traction on the bottoms. I am happy though!

I bought these shoes for a 5k mud run and was extremely satisfied with the shoes. Inov-8 did a fantastic job with these shoes, I already cannot wait to go running on a trail in these. The tread/grips at the bottom provided great traction and kept my glued to the course. The shoes are extremely light and have a minimalist design to them. I generally need more arch support with my shoes, but due to the off-road running style of the shoes, I felt comfortable in these shoes. The shoes are so light - the first time I put them on I felt like I didn't put shoes on. The shoe is covered in mesh which helps to drain out water (if you step into water). Many people opt for the five finger shoes for minimalist shoes, but I would recommend these shoes over them due to the foot protection you get.

I got this pair of shoes like a month ago and I don't think I have ever been more attached to a pair of running shoes than I have been to the Inov-8 232. They are really comfortable and work well on a variety of different surfaces. I have been really impressed with the quality of the material the shoe was made of. They are a shorter narrower shoe, so they are good if you have a wider foot. I usually wear an 11.0;however, with this shoe I wear an 11.5.

This is the updated version of Inov-8's venerable F-Lite series. What's been updated? First, the soft foam around the arch has been reinforced to protect against rope damage (I would still think twice about rope climbing in them, or at least have a second pair dedicated to the task). The laces have been updated to a thinner, lighter style, and the insole is softer and more luxurious looking than the old one. Finally, the heel is a bit more firm and dense than the old one (better stability under load). F-Lites are extremely light, comfortable trainers, with flexible, almost sock-like upper. They work extremely well almost all gym and cross-training applications as well as POSE style running. They are extremely flat, stable, and do not provide motion control or arch support. They are also not supposed to, so if you feel as though you need such things, you really shouldn't be looking at Inov-8s in the first place (again, you are supposed to running with an efficient, POSE strike, not a heel-to-toe clydesdale slam). F-Lites are extremely popular with the CrossFit crowd as they are well suited to mixed modality workouts, allowing you to switch between weightlifting, gymnastic, and running movements without changing shoes. The only other shoe I have found that is as comfortable and well suited to this style of training is the New Balance Minimus MT10s, which are also superb shoes (I alternate between those and these Inov-8s personally). F-Lites run a smidge large in the toe box, which means you have lots of room, but you might have to come down a half-size if you wear thin socks. In the NBs, I wear an 11.5-US. I've found that an 11-US/10-UK in the Inov-8 gives me a comparable fit.

These are superlight and provide lots of support. I think they went overboard with the logos but the shoes rock. They work well on the muddy trails, dry land, and even Fisneyland. This is my go to pair of trainers.

Still breaking them in, but satisfied so far. Gave me some blisters on longer runs, I ordered them a half size down, but still a little roomy. Could probably go a full size down and be comfortable. My trail shoes are a half down and fit like a dream. Not that it matters, but I get a lot of compliments when I wear them around.

Great shoe if you are looking to transition into a more minimal running shoe. There is plenty of room in the toe box to promote a natural foot movement. Plus, they look really cool.

This is a very comfortable shoe both for strength training and everyday wear. I can't imagine going back to a shoe with a heel. It fits my foot like a glove.

I love these shoes! I have been wearing Inov8s for 2.5 years now and usually purchase the 230's. Currently I am 7 months pregnant and wanted something with a bit more support and cushion. As a CrossFit coach, I recommend the 238s as a transition shoe from some of the "bulkier" running shoes to a more minimalist style shoe. Normally I wear between a 7.5-8 in regular shoes/boots and have found that I wear a 7.5 in all my Inov8s. Oh, and I love the purple/aqua colors. ;)

I love these shoes! I have been using F Lite220s to work out in for a few years, but they did not offer enough grip for mud/trail runs. While they have been great for mud runs (and they wash out great) what has been the bigger surprise is how much I love them for so many other activities. I blew out my baseball cleats one day, and was fortunate enough to have these in the car, so I threw them on and finished the game in them. Not only did they offer more traction than my original cleat, but their lightness and comfort has made them my new cleats. They have also been great for hiking and off-roading. I only have two small complaints: The nubs tend to wear out a little quicker than I would like, especially if they are worn on concrete/asphalt. But the added traction makes them worthwhile. And I wish they came in more colors. Overall, if you are used to minimalist shoes and are looking for something with a little more traction, I would highly recommend these!

Wow! What a super shoe -- I do a CrossFit training program and this is the perfect shoe to work out in. I like the slim silhouette and the color combination. I am a guy who is usually in girl clothes when not working so these are a perfect shoe. I do wear them to run errands and such but I don't think I would do any serious running in them. I think they are well made but it is a very light shoe and does not offer much support but this is not necessarily a bad thing -- inov-8 just makes great shoes for many needs and always has great color combinations -- help the Brits buy a pair or two.
