I am somewhat of a famous Zappos customer as I go through shoes quickly. I am on my feet most of the day and am tough on shoes. I have been buying expensive running shoes for years that last just a few months, but as I am getting older my feet hurt more (or they are making the shoes cheaper and less comfortable). I now own two pair of Hoka One One's and the Mafate 2 is the first that I bought. I have to say that they are the most comfortable shoe that I have ever worn, unlike any other. No foot pain at the end of the day when wearing them. I have had them for several months now and they are still great and I would recommend them to anybody. One note, I usually wear a 4e so I ordered a half size bigger and they are fine.

After a knee injury during a half marathon, I switched shoes and trained for and ran a full marathon in these shoes. I absolutely love the support and energy return that these shoes provide. I am a recovering minimalist runner, and I have never felt so light on my feet than I have in these shoes. You would never believe it by looking at them. The toe box is huge, and my feet are very happy with the room they have in these shoes. I am 5'8" 135 lb female, and I average about 25-35 miles per week running. I have multiple foot and joint issues, including ITBS in my knee and hallus rigidus in my foot. These are both pre-arthritic conditions that flare up on occasion and hurt when I run, but in these shoes the pain is virtually 100% gone. These are also my go-to shoe for long distance walking and lots of time spent on my feet, such as all day at Walt Disney World. No foot pain whatsoever. By far the best shoes I have ever purchased. I just wish they weren't so funny looking :).

Price made me a bit hesitant. With Zappos great return policy, I decided to give these shoes a try. Glad I did. Worth every penny! Without a doubt the best athletic shoes I've ever owned. I'm an 8.5 with very wide feet and these fit perfect. On my feet 10+ hours a day. Was able to wear them the entire day first day I got them. First time in years. I've had no lower back ache or tired/sore feet at the end of a shift. Very impressed with how light weight they are. Would definitely recommend these shoes. So impressed that I'll be ordering two more pairs.

But if you are a real forest-trail runner, and if you want to fall and break something, then these are the shoes for you! For a relatively expensive pair of shoes, I ended up with a broken hand and $20,000 medical bill. I loved the way the Hoka One shoes felt, but there is something about the design that increases your risk of tripping. I tripped almost every time I ran in them, but the last resulted in injury. Needless to say, I had to retire my Hoka Ones.

These are the best tennis shoes I have ever owned. They are also the most comfortable. They are light and yet extremely durable.

The most comfortable shoe I have ever worn! The Hoka One gives the feeling of walking on air, removing impact to joints. Having a knee replacement, static in my lower back these shoes seem to remove all stress to the sensitive areas of my body and allow me a more comfortable workout. They look unusual or even silly, but I don't care; the positives out way any style issues! I would highly recommend trying these shoes if you are looking for a shoe that removes stress to your joints.

Feel so cushiony and look chunky. Watch out for sizing. I am a woman's .5 but am now trying a 6.5 as the sizing is unisex. Really comfy. Great walking, running, elliptic machine shoe. People stop me to ask about my funky shoes. Love them and highly recommend them particularly for older athletes.

I have been a fan of Newton shoes for a good while. I put hundreds of miles on my Distancias, but I started just getting tired joints and tendons. These shoes are amazing. I actually bought them, put three miles on them, and ran a half marathon race. No issues. I am now a maximalist.

I have an older trail Mafate that was too clunky to wear, and my feet would slide on downhill trails inside the shoe. The Bondi S2 is a world apart. Light , comfortable and great fit. The speed lacing is way better. I just ran a 100k technical ultra in it. Worked out great.

I'm really happy with these. I was a skeptic but they are a great tool for long runs with less impact. That first step out of bed in the mornings is not as bad as it had been after running in these for a couple weeks. PF sufferers- you know what I mean.

I am an ultra runner, and had a recent knee injury and all my fellow ultras wear Hokas. I have to run, and my regular shoes didn't allow me to so I decided to jump on the band wagon and get Hokas and I am glad I did. While they are ugly as all get out, I could care less because I'm running again. If you have any injury that makes it hard to run, give these a try. You won't be disappointed.

These are amazing! I've suffered severe plantar fasciitis. I love running, and these are light and like running on pillows. I wish they made a 10 1/2 in women. I'm 5'11 and I had to buy the men's shoe because they didn't have my size in womens.

It looks like a bulky shoe but is anything but. Very light and not as tall as it appears. It is a nice bit of cushion but doesn't seem squishy. I have only put a few miles on them so far with just a few trail runs. So far so good. The only drawback I would say is the price. A bit steep as there are probably shoes just as good for a lot less.

I've been searching for a nice looking comfortable athletic shoe with good lateral support and this is not it! I wear orthotics which fit perfectly in this shoe but they may have raised me up enough in the footbed to completely miss any support from the lateral side plastic support. Only the shoe fabric was supporting my lateral movement. Looking down at my feet the lateral sole was obscured but it was very visually pronounced on the medial aspect. My feet fell off the sides of this shoe and I don't wear a wide width.

LOVE these shoes!! The thicker soles provide great cushioning. It's like running on memory foam. All I can say is try a pair and you will be hooked. Before I switched to Hoka I had been wearing the same brand of shoes since 2006. The Hoka shoes are light years beyond anything I've ever seen. Can't say enough good things about them. My review says no arch support but I wear orthotics so it's a moot point. Without orthotics I'd say this is probably a neutral shoe.

This is my 6th pair of Hokas, and so far my favorite pair. It's outsole lasts longer, it has a lighter upper than previous models, and quick close lacing system. If you have knee pain or have been running for many years and your cushioned shoes aren't cutting it anymore, try these. They are actually the same weight or even lighter than an ordinary running shoe. Some people think they look silly, perhaps they do, but once you wear them you won't care!

The 7s were too short, my toe bumping up against the end of the shoe, so I ordered the 7.5, which fit pretty well, though I do notice some slipping up and down in the heel area. They are comfortable, but I have very high arches, and the arch support is lacking. I've placed some cotton pads under the insert and that seems to help. These shoes actually remind me of wearing plungers on my feet, or something like Bender of Futurama would wear.

Shoe feels bulky and hard to run in. Seems to take more effort to do a workout in this shoe. I am used to a lighter shoe.

Love this shoe! Tons of cush and yet lots of stability. They have become my ultimate long run shoe. Helped me continue to run through foot injury recovery and are just a super high quality shoe. Too much shoe for a track workout or speed session but I use a different pair of shoes for that anyway. They come with speedlaces but a pair of regular shoelaces are also included in case that's what you prefer. Highly recommend this shoe.

I am a bigger guy weighing in about 215 and I run between 20 and 30 miles a week. I have run with these shoes for about a total of 40 miles or so and they have quickly become my go to road shoe. I have knee problems and while these shoes do not completely erase all of my pain they greatly reduce it. I can really feel how they absorb the pounding I put on them. I am thinking about getting the trail version of these since I do most of my miles on the trail...we shall see.

These shoes rock! Kudos to Hoka One One! I had two knee injuries in the past year and a half - and I ran today with no pain at all! The only thing painful about my run was being out of breath from being horribly out of shape and 40lbs heavier from immobility. If you have any kind of joint injury and wish to become active again, give these a try. I won't guarantee they'll do the job for you since I don't know your situation, but they worked for me and reduced the impact to almost nothing. Yay for Hokas! And, no, I am not part of the Hokas sales team.
