Giesswein Reviews
I am not used to spending so much on shoes, particularly slippers, but I needed something I could wear on wood floors. I ordered them based on the comments that they "ran large." I have a fat foot with a high arch and these are fantastic, easily accommodating my foot and providing good support.
I love these slippers. I wear them most of the day as I am home with two young kids. Prior to getting these, I was in socks most of the day and every night my feet ached. These provide enough support to prevent that; no more foot pain! However, they are not soft and cushy, if that is what you are looking for. The removable insole is more like what you would find in an athletic shoe, though they are wool. I usually wear a size 8 US and bought these in size 40. I like my slippers to be roomy enough to wear thick socks with them, but not so big that I cannot slip them on barefoot and the size 40 is perfect! I also appreciate the non-skid bottom. I have to go up and down wood stairs all day usually carrying a small child and these feel very secure while doing that. I also love that they are machine washable, though I have not actually tried to wash them yet. They appear to be very well made and I like the details and style. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase. They felt like a splurge, and they were worth it!
I know some people found these slippers to be too small/tight, but for me they are the opposite. The length is right for a size 7, but they are pretty loose on my feet. I can only wear them with really thick socks. So if you have thin or regularly sized feet, you might start one size smaller.
These are so comfy! I wore out my first pair after almost daily use for a few years. Warm, but not as sweaty as shearling. Supportive, yet flexible. Nonskid sole so I don't slip on wood and tile floors. Pricey, but worth it to me.
I have worn these slippers for about two weeks now and absolutely love them. The footbed is not super cushy, but I do not mind a more shoe like footbed. The super cushy end up flat as a pancake anyway. Love the wool, it keeps my feet warm and dry not hot and sticky like other slippers I have had before. I can even wear without socks and the wool is still very comfortable. They were a big investment, but I figure I wear these more than most of my shoes. Overall very worth the price.
I love these shoes! They are exactly what I've been looking for since I developed plantar fasciitis 18 months ago. I wear them around the house. They slip on and off easily, are super comfy, and my feet don't hurt at all.
Itchy and hot. Cute though but I have to return, because of the comfort level I just don't wear them.
These are excellent slippers, even for a person like me who has very narrow feet. I bought them to replace a similar Giesswein slipper that I worn out after several years of constant use. I like these even better.
These slippers stretch out quite a bit. I bought the size 41, which fit best to start. Within 3 weeks of regular wear, they had stretched out a lot. Contacted Zappos and they exchanged for the smaller size. Now they fit great (little small to start...but now have stretched in to fit great). Love Zappos. Great customer service.
I was diagnosed with plantar fascia one year ago and told to quit walking around barefoot and to start paying serious attention to good arch support. I bought these slippers in September (this is the end of March) and I wear these every day all day when I am at home (I home-office). At first I worried the wool uppers would be too hot for a Texas winter. Surprise of surprises! The wool was remarkably breathable. I was shocked that my feet never overheated. The arch support is quite excellent. It's a pleasure to slip these slippers on after a day in regular shoes. The soles are wonderfully flexible and the slipper is very light. It's almost like going barefoot. There's plenty of "give" and cushion in the heal and the inflammation from my PF has receded significantly. The slippers are showing very little sign of wear and I suspect I'll be wearing them for at least another winter season if not more. I'm going to buy another pair so I have them at the ready when my current pair wears out.
I was looking for something to wear in the house - not athletic shoes and not anything spongy; I really needed arch support - on hardwood floors, my feet are achy after a day of running around the house. These are perfect, totally perfect. Made well, they have support, are soft and sturdy. Bravo!
These are incredibly comfortable and to my mind cool looking. The arch supports help hold the slipper to the foot when walking and there are no seams inside, so the foot is simply enveloped in comfortable, itchless boiled wool that is not too warm but just right. If you have to go outside briefly the sole will keep the slippers from being ruined. My wife has the blue, so we complement each other.
My orange braiding is rubbing off on one shoe from the inside. It is like it is shedding. I love the shoes but may take them back only because the trim is coming off and I have had them just a few weeks. They are very nice and comfortable, but if you had a narrow foot it might be too big for you.
Super warm for the chilly weather. Houston has mild-ish winters compared to the rest of the country but I found my feet got cold just in socks tucked up on the sofa, and these are nice for lounging around home. The bright boho crocheted flowers makes me smile. I also like the rubber sole over the other option of fabric sole because I have a long flight of wooden stairs and would hate to slip. I like how these don't make my feet look really wide or large. I take a 38 and found the 7s fit well. The style also keeps the top of my feet cozy. All wool items are scratchy on my skin but I just wear a pair of socks with these and they feel good on my feet.
For a woman, the style was quite manly. I like masculine style but these were too extreme. The slipper was a full size too large. The arch support was very agressive, excellent if that is the support you need. I am a woman size 10, the size 41 is what I ordered. Made my feet look very large.
These are great supportive slippers with a cushioned arch support. The arch support is very aggressive and too much for my medium to flat arches. The length was ok, slightly longer but the width was VERY wide! It felt like my foot was sliding outward and forward with every step. I have medium width (on the wider side), these are much too wide.
I have to re-review these. I almost didn't keep them because the stitching scratched the tops of my feet but I loved them too much and decided that if it really got bad, I'd cut the stitching out and re-sew the flowers with softer thread but that wasn't necessary. The stitching hasn't bothered me since that first time. Anyhow, I am in love with these slippers. Best purchase I've made in a long while.
I bought these for my hubby after my Mom and I gifted a pair to each other for Christmas. I have them on as I'm writing. Absolutely worth every penny. Fabulous, removable footbed. Cozy warm yet breathe wonderfully (not like Uggs - which my feet steam in). I think I've worn mine every day since Christmas - no pilling, wearing great. HIGHLY recommended.
As I wear this comfortable, darling slip-on I receive many compliments. True to size with great support I highly recommend this selection.
I am very happy with the purchase. Even on sale they are pricey for a slipper but so incredibly worth it. I read several reviews from different sites before committing to the purchase and the one thing that concerned me the most was the slippers stretching out and getting loose. I took a chance ordered them and they did stretch out and are a little looser than what I would normally go for but it does not change the comfort of the sole at all or the stability of the shoe. I purchased my first pair about 3 weeks ago (and am wearing them right now). I am getting ready to purchase two more pairs - one for my mom and another pair for me. I am very happy with this purchase. I bought my regular euro size (41) and they fit me true to size just the width is a little loose but nothing to worry about. I admit that the little shiny's on the slippers helped in my falling in love with these slippers as well. Would absolutely recommend to a friend.
