Garmont Reviews
Finally, a shoe that fits my feet, which are wide in the front and narrow in the heel! These shoes are very comfortable, yet light, and have a sturdy Vibram sole, and look nice. What's not to like? Arch support could be just a bit heftier, but overall, I am very happy with this shoe!
I bought these for hiking in the Southwest. After hiking only 4 miles in Big Bend rocky desert my feet were killing me. In my opinion the soles are not tough enough to handle rocky terrain.
The deal breaker for me is the lack of a tongue gusset. With a tongue that stretches literally from the ankle to the base of the toes, there's nothing to keep out sand and debris.
This is a comfortable shoe with moderate arch support and very good traction. The shoe keeps your foot stable and doesn't allow much of a chance to roll or slip. I usually wear a size 12, and they do fit at this size but do not allow for anything other than a light sock. I probably should have gone to a 12.5. Good shoe all overall.
I purchased these because I wanted to have a comfortable boot for motorcycle riding. Now these are the only shoes I wear. I used to be a firm believer in Merrell's but after this pair, I won't buy anything else.
This shoe has amazing grip on ice. I live at 9,500 ft. elevation and if I know I will not be in deep snow I wear them every day. My friends are slipping around and these shoes keep me stable and upright. Cool shoes that feal good!
These boots lasted about a year with lite to moderate trail hiking. Very comfortable and looked great, but the material near the toe box cracked and split, leaving a 1 inch opening to my foot! Then, one week later a metal speed lace separated from the boot, leaving no way to lace it. Not worth the money.
These shoes are sturdy and comfortable right out of the box. I have had them for a month and worn them just about every day to work and hike. They have held up so far to camp work and wet, snowy hiking. My second pair of Garmonts.
If, like me, you wear UCBL orthotics, this may be the shoe for you. There is something about the cut that allows the orthotic to function properly. Now, I've added a clamshell ankle brace to the mix and by ordering a half size larger, they all fit nicely with no additional modifications. I know these are not the most attractive shoe and no, I don't really like the color. However, I love that I can buy these "off the shelf" without further customizing. Great shoe.
Most comfotable shoes I own! On the light side, tho and not waterproof, but a great light hiker. I wear them every day in the woods with my dogs! I have a "dirty" pair and a "dress-up" pair, I like them so much!
These are great boots! They provide excellent support from heel to toe. A good, moderately firm shank (I assume; they feel that way, which is what a podiatrist would recommend, I think.) I wear them walking the dog, for yard work, shopping at the big box lumber store and light hiking in the woods. They are comfortable in all settings. And a big thumbs-up to Zappos' service!

These are the best boots that I almost owned. I was told that they would likley fit even though I do wide almost always. Well they surely do not fit wide feet. I am bummed because they look to be about the best winter boots that I have ever seen..
Owned for: 1 day (to compare) Review: Boots feel indestructible while wearing them. The sole is stable and gives your foot and ankle a stable platform. The cushion around the ankle gives tremendous support. I would enjoy using these outdoor doing construction or farm work in the winter. As far as hiking and using every day during rainy/snowy periods, I like a boot where I can feel the ground and it allows for my food to flex more. Not sure because I don't have the time to break them in, but judging by how stiff they are, I assume it would take a while for these to be broken in. I was surprised by the other reviews saying they felt broken in out of the box, mine did not. Sole is aggressive giving great traction. Couldn't figure out what the shank insoles are all about but they feel stiff and won't breathe like the insoles that come with them. The instructions say they are for people who like a firmer cushioning, but they are not the same as insoles. They are flat cutout hard foam material (strange). Thanks Zappos!
Bought and wore them for 1 week, 10hrs a day in construction conditions. Seemed stable but extremely stiff. I didn't mind that except for the upper ankle area. It's so, so stiff, that it kept digging into my ankles even with thick socks on. In the end, I gave up and moved on. Not a great buy.

This shoe fit and felt great right from the start. It looks nice, grips well, and is tough. I destroy shoes and these are made well. My only complaint is that I could use more arch support and the reinforced heel digs ever so slightly into the region of my achilles. All in all a very good shoe.
These boots are great for winter hiking! They are warm and comfortable and provide great support. I had trouble finding the right size (went through 5 pairs until I settled on a size two sizes larger than my regular shoe size!), but it was worth the wait. We had a very enjoyable two day hike in 20-30 degree temps and these boots were comfortable, warm, provided solid support, and couldn't have been better. Very happy with them!
I'm keeping these shoes because they fit the best of the 5 pairs I tried; however, I wish the heel were higher and that they felt a little more sturdy. I wear size 5 medium. My foot is a little wide, but my heel is narrow.
This shoe accommodates not only my UCBL orthotics but also a hinged brace. I did have to order a size larger but it works and for that I'm very grateful. The color, for me, is "meh" but hey, I like the shoe because it allows me to walk. I'm very active, walking four to five miles at a stretch.
Surprisingly comfortable shoe. Among the most comfortable I've owned. Fits as rated, a little narrow but not overly so. plenty of room, though you might not lace-up as tight as other shoes. I prefer a narrower shoe, so order exactly my size. I have flat feet, and this show provided excellent support and stability.
I've had my shoes for a little more than a year and am very pleased with them. Garmont shoes are very well made and these are no exception. I became interested in these shoes in other colors--yellow or red but Garmont only offers those colors in Europe, not the U.S. I tried to get a pair of the European version but could not get them sent to me in the U.S. so I settled for this grey version which is more conservative. I like them because you don't see many other guys wearing them.
