Frye's current Harness Boots are rooted in tradition and continue to draw influence from the Cavalry. Today the classic Harness Boot holds a place in American culture. The Frye Harness Boot has been pictured in fashion spreads internationally. In 1938, on a trip to Washington, D.C., John A. Frye's grandson and namesake met a U.S. Navy Admiral who confided that he had trouble finding the Wellington boots he liked so much. As a favor, John agreed to make him a pair. Frye continued to fill requests for these boots through the Second World War. During World War II, Frye supplied thousands of servicemen with Frye Wellington boots, known as Jet Boots, by mail order.
In the 1960's, Frye reintroduced the Campus Boot, from its 1860 original, featuring a bulky toe and chunky heel that came to epitomize the attitude and the style of the 60's and 70's. There was nothing like these "new" Frye Boots on the market, and consumers began to demand "Original Fryes." When searching for items to represent the America of the 60's, the Smithsonian Institute chose a pair of Frye Boots.
The quality of all Frye shoes is timeless. For almost 150 years, Frye leather products have continued to be benchcrafted from the finest full grain leather uppers. It takes over 190 steps to make one pair of Frye boots. Frye remains dedicated to the commitment of craftsmanship for which Frye boots and Frye shoes have been known for more than 100 years.

This boot runs true to size. I have several pairs of Frye boots and I love these because they're so different from my other pairs. This pair is very sexy, can be dressed up or down, and very comfortable due to the stacked heel. There's also details you may not notice from the photos such as the heel is wrapped in the same leather and zipper details. Beautiful boot. Highly recommend.

So I have a Frye addiction! I went to the sister site of Zappos (and thanks, Zappos, for both having great service!) 6pm.com and got the Sylvia dark brown right after Thanksgiving! Then the price dropped and I could not pass up fabulous Fryes! These are great for heeled booties and the dark brown is great! This is my sixth pair of Fryes. I love them! Carson Oxford, boots, campus, double ring harness. I gave a friend the Bethany (my calves did not fit them). I love Frye!

These are beautiful booties. The leather is soft and smooth - they came without any scratches, and as I have worn them over time, the leather has not scratched. The zippers do sometimes get caught in the leather material on the sides, but it is nothing a little pull cannot manage. They are comfortable for heeled boots, and I have worn them while walking for about seven hours straight without a problem. They are warm, but not too warm - perfect for wearing in fall/winter if you do not want your toes to freeze. The rubber heel offers good traction, and the overall quality of the boot is what I have come to expect from Frye. These will last a long time.

Love these boots. The heel is high, but thick, so they are very comfortable and easy to walk in (compared to shoes of comparable height!). I also love the zippers that are on both the inside and outside of the boot. I like to zip both zippers down half-way to have a more relaxed, casual look. Great quality from Frye, as always (I have Veronica Slouch, Engineer 8R and 2 pairs of shoes). I have not experienced any problems with any of the soles at the reviewer below has mentioned.

I loved this boot but the heel height was a bit too much for me. I own several pairs of Frye boots but with the 1-inch heel and I can walk in those for hours on end. These heels, unfortunately, feel a bit too high and I know I wouldn't be able to walk comfortably in them for too long. I think I'll stick with the low heel as it suits my lifestyle better. If you don't mind a high heel, you'll love these boots. Sad I have to return these but I'm ordering the Frye Lindsay Plate Short instead. I'm sure I'll love those.
