French Sole Reviews
I really love these shoes. They are very cute on, but the sizing is so off. Order a size larger. Also there is no support. I took an insole from an old pair of Tom's and put them in the shoes and they were amazingly comfortable. You would think at this price they might think of putting an insole with arch support like Tom's all by themselves? Hmmmm.
I liked the shoes but within a week of wearing them the insoles started bunching up under my toes then started shifting in the heels. The cheap adhesive doesn't seem to want to stick to the cheap foam cushioning. They were cute but a waste of money.
This is my second pair of French Sole Passport. They are extremely comfortable and very stylish. By a half size smaller as they run big. I normally wear an 8.5 and bought an 8 after reading the reviews.
I wear a nine and bought a nine. At first, the heels were too tight, but I just wore them for two days and now they are perfect. Very comfortable. I want a pair in every color.
I just love these shoes but hey are a whole size too large. I first ordered the 6 1/2 (my usual size) had to return and now ordered the 6 and they are still too big. I'm sorry bit I need to go to another site to get a 5 1/2. Still would recommend but really go with a smaller size.
I absolutely love this shoe! I always have a problem wearing flats because I mostly wear high heels and problem with bunions but I can wear these flats all day. They are so light feels like your walking barefoot. I love the color too - very fun to wear.
I took these shoes (new, out of the box) to New York City for a week of museum hopping. I wore these shoes every day and walked everywhere no blisters, no cutting. Kind of a miracle really. The review that explains that these shoes are like a glove for feet is spot on. They may feel like they run small, but the pair I kept are my usual size. My toes are right at the end---like ballet slippers. They'll conform to your foot shape (knobby toes and all). :-)
This is my first time trying the brand French Sole. They seem to run large. I'm usually a 6.5 to 7 and ordered 6.5. Need to return and get a 6. Love the color! Perfect shade for what I needed. A nice deep dark navy....so hard to find.
Great shoes - quality leather and cute appearance. Unlike some ballet flats, the sides are high enough the cover the sides of your foot. I have a sort of wide foot across my toe joints and these still fit fine (were pinchy only the first two wearings).
These shoes are remarkably soft and it's nice they have some support even though they look like flats. They look well-made, with high quality materials. So why am I sending them back? They do run a bit large, and there's something about the design that makes me feel a bit old. I'm a 37 year old mom and these remind me of something my grandmother would love. I will probably be looking for them again in 20 years!
I love the Sloop: comfortable and unassuming. This particular variety stretches a bit more than the metallic leathers, but otherwise is true to size. Of note, the "dark blue" looks vaguely purple , especially when placed up against a true navy. These flats have no instep support, in fact, they have no support whatsoever, so aren't well suited to all day floor work, but otherwise, they are a wardrobe workhorse.
I ordered (and returned) both the black suede and black nappa about a year ago. While I did have difficulty with sizing, I was willing to give it a go and see if they stretch as other reviewers said they did. But the very strong chemical smell coming off the shoes was way too much and I had to return them. Every pair smelled awful. I keep coming back to the reviews to see if anyone else had this issue, and as far as I can tell, no one has commented on it. Did anyone else have this problem? I have yet found a black suede ballet flat, and would love to try these again, but not if they continue to smell like they were stored in a vat of chemicals before they were shipped to me.
I love these shoes, but because I am a narrow, I should have ordered a full size lower and not a half size lower. Returning for the next half size down because these are keepers.
I got these thinking they'd really be the cat's meow. While they are the nicest and most comfy flats I've owned, the sizing is a little off to me. I got a half size up at the recommendation of the French Sole website, but they are a bit goofy with sizing. I'm a true 10.5. Usually, 10s are way too small and 11s are way too big. I got an 11 in this shoe, but I wish I would have at least tried on the 10.5. I'd get another pair, so maybe next time. The leather and quality really is remarkable.
These are incredibly comfortable, good looking flats. They look great with skinny or flared jeans. One word to the wise: they stretch quite a bit after a few wears. I initially ordered my regular size and thought it was super tight so exchanged them for half a size up. I kind of regret that, I think the originals would fit. Also, I am a fiend about arch support so I stuck my favorite Dr. Scholl's hidden arches in them and they are now even more ridiculously comfortable.
I am challenged with bunions on both feet and French Sole shoes (thankfully) have made it possible to wear beautiful shoes comfortably. I have decided to skip the painful and long recovery that surgery would entail thanks to these fabulous shoes.
These shoes are great! They are tight when you first put them on, but they were broken in within a few minutes. I took the advice of the manufacturer and ordered my true size and I'm glad I did. Great if you want a classic, unadorned ballet flat.
The only thing these shoes have going for them is that they are cute. Otherwise the only difference between them and a pair of Payless specials is the price. I had the same size issue as many people, they were too small at my normal size (massive big toe bulge that I wasn't willing to risk) so I returned for a half size larger. They have minimal padding, which if they had, it might make up for lack of arch support. (Zappos was awesome, by the way. They shipped me the replacements before I even sent the old ones back). Unfortunately after three weeks of light wear, the inner sole lining is shifting around and coming out. I will need to superglue them down - and that shouldn't be happening with a pair of shoes at this price. I don't expect the shoes to last more than a few months and all I do is wear them to work, which I drive to. Advice - stay away from the shoes.
I originally ordered these in my regular size 8 1/2. Too tight and even if they stretch they were really uncomfortable. Wish I had listened to the reviewers that suggested a size up. The different colors fit quite differently also. I ordered the black suede, pewter, and red suede. The black are perfect. Fit like a glove and are really cute. The red were baggy around the foot as you can see in some of the photos and the pewter metallic are much more pewter color in person than the photo. I wanted a more silver shoe. If I could go to the store and try these on it would be great. Next I'm ordering the coral.
