Great climbing shoe. This is my second pair of Pontas II's. Sharp edges, a little agressiveness to the toe. The heel box could be better (MadRock's take the cake on this), but the fit is great. I busted through the toe on my other one's, but it took me a year of consistent climbing to do so. It's funny that the standard Zappos review asks about comfort (doesn't really work for climbing...). Highly recommend the Pontas II!

So I've been wearing these exclusively for a few weeks to break them in over a wide variety of terrain - indoor, granite, polished limestone, and fresh limestone. They are now well-broken in and have been through enough different movement styles to give them a clear review. I sized the same as my Shamans (which is the same as my street shoe), and the first two rounds I questioned whether they would fit - it is definitely a smaller volume shoe in all directions compared to the Shaman, and it was some effort to get them on. That said, after several hours climbing in them over several sessions, they have adapted well to my feet - easy to slide on, still a tight fit but comfortable enough to wear while working a route for over 30 minutes. The pros - very precise toe, especially on steeper terrain. For problems and routes that require getting the toe in on a small hold and keeping it there, these work great. I was really impressed by how hard I could edge down on miniscule footholds on vertical climbing. Heel and toe-hooking are what you would expect - a moderately deep heel cup and the single strap keep the shoe on even when yarding hard on a heel, and the extended toe patch scums into the wall just fine. Shoe gets a little warm for extended wear, but I think this is every shoe that has a large rubber toe patch for hooking - climbing rubber doesn't breathe. Rubber is a little thick to start, but to be fair, it does extend the life of the shoe significantly, and I rarely think the extra 1 mm of rubber is what is ever going to hold me back. General Consensus - super precise shoe to point directly into holds and gain good purchase; high performance with a good level of comfort once broken in. Sized similar to Shamans, but might be worth it to go a 1/2 size up if it is used as a training pair.

So far (2 days of climbing), I really like these shoes. They're a really good all-around comfortable climbing shoe. As with my previous Evolv shoes (Elecktra), these shoes fit true to size. That is, I bought them in my normal street size and I think they're just right. Tight, as climbing shoes should be, but without being painful. I worried the laces would be annoying, but actually they're perfectly easy to take on and off and I've found the laces allow me to pull the shoes more tightly around my low volume foot (it was harder to get a tight fit width-wise with the velcro straps on the Elecktra). Style-wise, these are ok looking, but I wish they offered colors other than pink. They don't say rockstar on them.

So far I can't get the right men's size for a woman's size 7 foot. Size 5: I couldn't put on. Size 6: was way too tight (like foot bondage too tight). I've ordered a 7 now but 7 men's have never equaled size 7 women's so I'm perplexed. Looking at the Euro sizes in comparison to the experience so far doesn't correlate help. Thankfully Zappos makes it easy to keep trying.

Love these shoes, I hike but not a lot of rock climbing and these shoes are so comfortable no breaking them in. I am also a golfer and walk so am going to try them on the golf course just because they are so comfortable and love not having to wear socks.

I couldn't really get this shoe on comfortably since it's quite a bit smaller than the rest of the 9s in my closet. Maybe feeling more narrow had more to do with the size than the width; I'm not sure. The shoes look great and are incredibly light, which is what I was going for. Definitely like them, but will return for a larger size.

I am using a pair that is the same size as my street shoe and they fit great. Typically I feel insecure while edging when my shoes are sized to street, but not with the addict. I am able to size the shoe to work well in cracks, and maintain edging strength which is all I could want from a trad shoe. Being able to take the shoe on and off quickly is a bonus for long days, and multi-pitch climbing.

These are great good-weather approach shoes; I primarily use these in summer and on days/locations that I know will stay relatively dry. I also keep a pair in my climbing pack as a "crag" slipper; they are easy to toss on between climbs and the fold down heel let's me and a climbing partner transition faster between routes. The pros - super light and low-profile. Insole is bigger than you would assume; shoes are not as close to the ground as the visible midsole would imply, which is actually pretty nice. Wearable barefoot. Can look surprisingly classy. Only detraction for me is the material is not designed for wet environments; love these in places like Moab, Rifle, and for routesetting in the gym (can still climb decently strong in them) but in forested places like Squamish, these are just in the pack as crag slippers.

The Shaman is an impressively comfortable climbing shoe for the level of camber and downturn in the midsole. The concave indent underneath the big toe works very well to position the foot directly into small footholds. The triple velcro works well to adjust the fit and take out any excess space. The rubber on them is a little thick out of the box, but once it gets a little worn down the shoe softens up significantly and becomes much more sensitive. Gets better over time.

I'm a fan of slippers for most types of climbing, and these have held up solidly. Slip on pretty easily even when sized tight (helps that the front pull loop is directly attached into the upper), and the upper material conforms to your foot's shape well. I sized about a full size down, and they broke in quick to become some sensitive and adept climbing shoes. Definitely an all-around use shoe - good training shoe because of the softness, very precise shoe bouldering and sport climbing, and the upper is low without any excess material (like laces or velcro) so it can jam into cracks and hold easily. Definitely a good performance climbing shoe that fits comfortably.

I really enjoy these shoes! They were exactly what I anticipated and after wearing them in a little bit I noticed that they don't stretch and am glad I only got a half size smaller than my normal running shoe size. They fit perfectly snug and yes were kind of like Chinese foot binding in the very beginning but worth breaking in! they totally compliment my climbing experience.

Great shoe, excellent description. My son wanted them for Parkour and they are his favorite pair so far. And I swear, you order one minute and they are at your door the next. Fastest shipping anywhere!! Much appreciated.

Anyone that's worn a climbing shoe can understand that it could be hard to write a review on the comfort of them. I ordered a size up from what I normally wear. Wanted a shoe that wouldn't dye my feet different colors. Good sticky rubber and nice edging. Good climbing shoe for the money.

I'm really happy with these shoes. The grip is really great. More aggressive than any climbing shoe I have used in the past. It has been fairly painful on the tops of my toes breaking them in, though it is getting a bit better. So far I've only used these in a gym and not yet outdoors.

I am not a rock climber but these shoes were great for hiking and general everyday wear. I have never had such comfortable shoes, my feet feel great in these. The size was the only issue, I had to buy a full size larger than normal.

Awesome shoe, durable, and gives a huge advantage on certain boudlering problems. Can get to be a tad bit uncomfortable but it is to be expected in such a stiff shoe. Trade off is 100% worth it.

I bought these for basic approach shoes, and that is pretty much what they are. They are awesome for wearing around the house or to the gym and on small approaches that do not involve a lot of hiking, but that is about it. I wear a normal shoe size of 10, and got these in a 10, and they are pretty tight, to the point where I pretty much cannot wear socks with them if I want a chance at getting them on. I tested them on a four hour hike up and down a river with lots of rock hopping/scrambling/lite traversing, and they stuck to everything great, but they were not very comfortable after the first hour of so. I do not have wide or narrow feet, and would consider my feet to be pretty average, and these shoes feel extremely narrow. The best thing they have going for them is they look sexy as hell.

The Pontas II fit my 11.5 feet a little too comfortably in a size 12, but when sized true to my street size they were perfect. I would not buy them in more than a half-size below your street shoe. The toebox has enough room such that your toes should be slightly curled, but not painfully so. This will give you more power when edging; however, the shoes are not down-turned enough for you to gain much additional performance by cramming yourself into something uncomfortable. The Pontas have a really nice toe for edging and good the 3rd strap keeps the sole tight for smearing, but the heel feels a little lacking. It will work well for most heel hooks, but I would really like to see something with more of a pronounced heel cup and an extension of the outsole higher up the heel. This is a solid all around shoe that is meant to be comfortable, so that you can enjoy being on the wall. By the time you wear them out, you'll have a good feeling of what features you want in your next shoe. They'll get you to 5.11 and v5.

I love these shoes. They fit snuggly to my feet and I don't have any air pockets. This is my first pair of climbing shoes so I can't really compare them against other brands, but I would definitely purchase shoes from this company again.

I have not climbed in these yet, so I don't know how they will do on a rock. But, I have been wearing them for about three weeks now and love them for general wear. They are really comfortable, easy to slip on, look great with shorts or jeans. I love them. The true color is a little darker than the picture.

This is a fantastic shoe. I have a wide forefoot, and it's hard to find more aggressive climbing shoes that aren't incredibly painful. The toe box in this shoe is roomy without being bulky. In terms of climbing, the reinforced toe and the aggressive arch allow for great moves.
