I've had these boots for a few weeks now and they will definitely be my go-to boots for the season. The dark brown color on the Zappos website is accurate and the buckle hardware does not stand out (a definite plus for me). These boots will require a bit of a break-in period as the leather is thick and quite stiff out of the box but after a few days of wear they are just fine. One thing I really like is the lug sole, which has been great for wet weather and walking on gravel as well as in the city. I agree with another reviewer that these run a little bit long (I wear 11M) but thick socks have done the trick to fix that for me. These boots are a bit more expensive than other similar styles out there but for me they have absolutely been worth the investment.

Pricey but totally worth the investment. I work in a school with a concrete floor and am on my feet all day. The sole is perfect for a high level of support and comfort. No wearing in necessary. They were perfect from the start. Highest recommendation. Every shoe I've had from this brand has been equally awesome in look and feel.

This was my fifth purchase of Donald Pliner boots and I do like the new ones I just bought but I was terribly disappointed to learn they were not made in Italy like my other four pairs. DP has not lowered their prices but now instead of Italian made, the boots are made in China. When did this change occur? Don't believe I will be buying anymore DP boots!

Once I got the right size--and I had to order the same size two times before I got a shoe that fit, this was a great shoe (there were no size markings anywhere in the tight narrow pair that arrived before these comfortable roomy ones arrived, though both were identically sized on the shoe box). It's comfortable in M on a fairly wide foot, and once you've been walking for a while, the heel starts to grab the foot. The problem is that the shoe in the box does not always match the shoe size marked on the outside of the box. Probably a problem originating "overseas" now that Pliner has shifted from Italy and Spain to a lesser country for their manufacturing.

I put this boot on a wish list along with about ten other brown boots as it was time to replace my 8 year old ones which were falling apart but were so comfy. I tried these first and it just so happens that I have decided to keep them. I just can't imagine that I will find any that are as good as these. The heel is perfect. Just enough to give a little bit of height but the solid rubber heel and sole really do give good support and comfort. I have narrow feet so it will be necessary to add some type of insole so that my heel won't keep coming out of the heel of the shoe, but this is just my awkward feet and not the boot. I would say my calf is average and there is certainly enough room to wear these with leggings/skinny jeans but I think they will look good with skirts too (although haven't tried yet). I also love the color - not too dark. My only complaint at the moment is that they are very stiff! They are called Saddle Soft Vachetta but I can only think that is referring to the color - and not the give of the leather. When I first put them on there wasn't much bend right above the ankle - so be prepared to walk in these at home or short distances outside to break these in. After a few days of walking around the house in these at home the leather is starting to break in and I am very pleased that I decided to give these a chance.

I normally wear a 9 or 9.5 and since I read a review that said the shoe felt smaller than her regular size I opted to order a 9.5 which was way to large; I had major slippage in the heel and felt way too wide. I exchanged for a size 9 and that still felt too big. I kept it and also ordered an 8.5 to be sure and it fits well. The heels are more snug, I still have room for my toes with the length and the width feels better. I am returning the size 9 today and the 8.5 is a winner. Other than the inconvenience of the size issue these shoes are awesome! They are extremely stylish. The lug soles provide a nice stability and height without looking like true flats which I find unattractive. And the bling/crystals helps balance out the ruggedness by adding the right touch of femininity. I highly recommend these shoes as long as you get the size right. FYI, my ratings on size/width are based on the first 2 sizes I tried on not my final choice.

A great simple boot. Fit well. I think I just don't like black leather boots. They all seem shiny. I think this one is typical and not over,y shiny, it's my issue. I was happier with the Pliner with the fabric back and suede front - can't recall name - piment maybe? The sole on these was nice. Very grippy and comfortable. Fits true to size. I returned and kept the suede one.

If you've bought the fabric Pliner boots in the past, you'll like these. The front is suede and the back is the stretching fabric. It's not like elastic, but it is flexible and fits the shape of the leg. I have bought a lot of black boots without success because I feel like I look like Santa Claus in them! These aren't shiny and they looked good with my ponte leggings and with skinny jeans. They are lightweight. I always buy a 1/2 size larger in boots to accommodate socks and these were correctly sized. The footbed is average in width and not tight on my toes. I liked that they are simple and should go with everything. Pliner always fit me, along with Sam Edleman, so I thought these would work.

I love these boots. I cornered a woman in a doctor's office, asking who made these boots. She said she'd never have anybody ask about an item of her clothing like this. I told her I never had! I wanted to become the person who wore these boots. Sadly, the 9.5 (my usual size) was too narrow, particularly in one foot. The 10s fit width-wise but not length-wise. I am torn about waiting to see if the boot breaks in, but for this level of expense, it needs to be a sure shot.

Be warned that the Pliners made "overseas" are at least sometimes missing size markings anywhere inside or outside of the shoes (nothing on the soles). Had to order this twice--first time it was narrow and short. Measured it--it was almost abut a half size smaller than what I ordered. Zappos had sold out of my size, but the shoes came back in. Tried them again. Ordered the same size. No problem. Nice fit. I'm a wide Medium and sometimes try for a W, though usually an M works, and this M works. Also measured this second pair, and they came in at the right measurements. So if you like this shoe, keep trying, and you might get the proper fit. Or not. The overseas manufacturer is sending Pliner some unmarked shoes. How does anyone get the right size in the corresponding box number? It's a lottery. The stars I'm giving here are for the pair that was a full half size too small and totally unmarked re sizing. The second pair were marked and fit.

Just what I was looking for! I have a narrow flat foot as well as a narrow ankle and this boot fits perfectly and is very comfortable. The color is a slate blue gray which goes well with jeans as well as black pants.

These are incredibly comfortable with beautiful detail. Even the zipper pull is pretty. Leather is buttery soft. The first day I had them I wore them for a 12 hour workday and they felt great. The taupe is a great neutral that looks good with everything. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8 and the 7.5 fit me perfectly. Expensive but worth the money.

Wow, these are both gorgeous and comfortable. I almost always wear a 8 1/2 M width. These fit like a dream. The toes had room I have a high instep and it was not a problem. Fit and finish is great.

I wanted to like this shoe as it is attractive. The toe area is too tight in a half size larger than usual.

The most comfortable and stylish shoes! Highly recommend. I wear these almost everyday now as you can wear with skirts, pants, etc. Very good quality. Would buy in other colors if they had!

Gorgeous pair of boots. Classic high end casual equestrian look. Love them! Have coveted them for 2-3 years and finally sucked it up and shelled out the dough and I'm so psyched to have them on my feet. I was surprised to find that my usual size 8 felt a bit sloppy - one heel slipped, and the calves felt big. I sized down to 7.5 and while they are snug, they fit much better. Hoping they will break in and fit my feet like a glove.

I bought another pair of the Pliner Erling design that I LOVED. This shoe, however, is uncomfortable to say the least. My first pair of Erling shoes had a kind of matte finish, whereas these are more of a hard, inflexible mesh type fabric. They don't look nearly as good and are much more uncomfortable. TWO CRUCIAL DIFFERENCES: 1.) The earlier pair was made of a stretchier, more flexible fabric. As such, you could more easily slip on the shoe. 2.) The opening of the shoe (where you put your foot in) was bigger on the earlier pair of Erlings that I had. The bigger opening made it easier to get the shoes on and off and made wearing them MUCH more comfortable. I first ordered this in size 8.5, which is the same size as my first pair od Pliner's Erling design. I could barely even get my foot in the shoe--and when it WAS in the shoe, it was uncomfortable. So I ordered a second pair in size 9.5. I still could barely get my foot into the shoe. It was so tight I had to stretch the shoe to get it onto my foot. And it was uncomfortable once it was on. furthermore, I thought that having to stretch the shoe like that would tear it up pretty soon. So after two tries, I have given up on this design. I've owned several pairs of Pliner shoes through the years and have been very pleased with all of them because they looked good, they were durable and they were comfortable. I didn't keep these because they weren't comfortable. $195 is too much to pay for an uncomfortable shoe. I think the designers at Pliner messed up with this particular model. Back to the drawing board, guys. Howzabout bringing back the original Erline design with the matte finish?

These were true to size for me when usually nothing is. I am an 8.5 and typically I always try an 8 and a 9, in addition to the 8.5. These booties are totally cool and well-made. I'm in love with them and probably should stop wearing them everyday, but I LOVE THEM! I don't really want you to get them because then everyone will have them, but hey, I'm a good person, so share the wealth.

I bought these shoes, put them on immediately to go to the hairdresser. Felt like I was on Cloud 9. I have a problem with one of my feet. These shoes felt great and look even better. Soft suede, nice wedge, great soles. I love them.

I was really hoping to love these boots. They look almost exactly like the 5050 boots. I bought them with high hopes. They look great - however, at the top of the boot in the back, the elastic is so tight that it choked the back of my leg, making them uncomfortable to wear and walk in. Oh, and I thought they were loose in the calf. With a couple of minor adjustments to the product, these boots would be perfect. Sad I have to return.

Material upper felt like it'd be too hot if you wore them all day. Heel height was good. You have to wear them with knee highs versus regular pants socks otherwise too snug. Just not that impressive. Returned.
