Contain Your Mane: Wrap up summer frizz with this scarf-wearing technique.
Start by braiding the hair low on the head. Then, twist the braid into a loose bun.
Secure the bun low on the head with as many pins as necessary. This can be a soft bun and does not need to be perfect! Lightly mist hairspray all over to keep the style secure.
Lay your square scarf out on a table or other flat surface, patterned side down. Orient the scarf on your work surface in a diamond shape (points up and down). Fold the left and right points of the scarf to meet in the center of the scarf. Then, fold each side again so that the folded edges meet in the middle. Repeat until you have a 4-5 inch section on each side and fold in half to create one 4-5 inch band.
Situate the folded scarf on your neck beneath the bun. Pull the ends of the scarf forward and up, preparing to tie the scarf in a knot.
You want the style to be soft and relaxed, so it's ok if there are some pieces of hair that fall forward in front of the scarf (as pictured).
Carefully tie the scarf in a soft knot. You want the knot to be loose enough to have a pretty appearance, but tight enough that the scarf will stay securely in your hair.
Tuck the loose ends of the scarf beneath. You can secure the ends with pins if you like.
Enjoy a pretty style that keeps that hair off your neck on hot summer days!
